Based in Geneva, as part of a global team, your role as Financial Reporting Accountant will include the following duties:

  • Assisting the Finance Group Co-Controller with the review and monitoring of all key financial movements to ensure correct and complete information is reflected in the Group financial statements
  • Preparing certain areas of the Group financial statements under IFRS, including disclosure notes
  • Keeping up with technical accounting principles to ensure that all reporting requirements are met and implemented effectively; implementing new policies and procedures when necessary
  • Analytical review of the Group balance sheet and P&L accounts
  • Participating in the monthly and year-end closing of the Vitol Group of companies
  • Preparing and participating in annual audits
  • Review of standalone financial statements (IFRS/Swiss CO/other)
  • Assisting in the continuous development and improvement of the Group’s processes and procedures to ensure the provision of timely and accurate financial information
  • Liaising with other team members in Geneva and internationally when needed
  • Assisting in completing ad-hoc reporting and analysis requested by senior management
  • Other duties and responsibilities as assigned by the Accounting Manager

Qualifications

  • Master’s degree in accounting, control and finance. Advanced degree or professional certification (e.g., Swiss CPA or equivalent)
  • At least 4-5 years’ experience in accounting, auditing, controlling or consolidation functions, ideally within a Big 4, commodity trading or integrated oil & gas company
  • Strong analytical and Excel modelling skills, and excellent attention to detail
  • Good working knowledge of IFRS, consolidation process and intercompany eliminations
  • Entrepreneurial drive, good organisation skills, and ability to work independently as well as in a team
  • High level of ownership, results-oriented, proactive, flexible and committed
  • Able to meet tights deadlines during closing and reporting periods
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, ability to interact with a broad range of stakeholders
  • Full English proficiency to communicate in a business context (verbally & in writing)
