Company Description

Citizen Relations is seeking a Vice President of Social + Digital to work on-site in our New York office. This is a full-time position and will report to our Executive Creative Director. This person will help build a team of digital and social specialists and will lead them in driving initiatives including digital and social strategy, content marketing and development, community management and influencer relations across a variety of categories and industries. This agency thought-leader will also serve as an evangelist to support and advise the broader team with their digital knowledge and expertise.

About You
You live and breathe all things digital and social. If you haven’t worked in an app or a platform for your clients, you’ve probably dabbled in it at home just for s%# & giggles. And because of that, you have a very definitive opinion on which ones you like (and don’t like); and more importantly, you have a vision for which ones would work best for the brands you work on.


The reality is you kind of do everything. Not literally…but almost. For starters, you’re a writer. You’ve been the voice of many a brand, and since the internet has not yet moved to a spoken model, that means you’ve written and crafted the type of brilliant content that makes your communities feel all warm and fuzzy. You’re a voracious reader. Not necessarily of books per se, but more like blurbs and headlines and lists and anything else that will keep in you in the know of the trends that will no doubt shape the work you do (See…they just changed again). You’re a wee bit of a data freak. And by that, we mean you go to sleep every night while visions of true reach numbers and engagement rates dancing in your head. (You have to admit, that is kind of freaky). You can also be funny, and smart, and be a brand ambassador and a POV-giver…and that’s all before your second Venti Starbucks Doubleshot of the morning.



  • Part strategist, part account lead, part hands-on tactician, capable of envisioning, leading or implementing, as the situation requires.

  • A consummate team player that brings a passionate, positive, high-energy approach to client service and delivering results.

  • Comfortable in the role of teacher, trainer, mentor. The right candidate should possess enough hands-on experience implementing digital and social communications to translate terminology into a language that all can understand.

  • A smart and sound thinker whose ideas and strategies are grounded in research and data

  • An integrated marketer at heart whose skills and experience encompasses PR, traditional marketing, content and creative with a passion and specialty for the ever-changing landscape of social media and digital marketing.



  • Develop and implement creative and highly measurable digital strategies and campaigns for several high-profile clients that deliver specific results in engagement, conversion, sales & traffic and advocacy.

  • Design and develop program ideas and proposals that integrate within the broader marketing mix and deliver both innovative thinking and measurable results.

  • Creation of strategy and tactic recommendations across the owned, earned, and paid landscape.

  • Develop, implement and refresh social media best practices across various platforms and social communities such as Facebook, Twitter, YouTube, Pinterest, Instagram, Snapchat, and other emerging apps/platforms.

  • Be the liaison between teams and 3rd party digital partners.

  • Participate in key account group brainstorms, strategy and creative sessions, contributing digital and social activation ideas.

  • Serve as a counselor to support and advise account staff in involving and engaging digital program elements in every client recommendation.

  • Build, advise, execute and iterate scalable, measurable influencer marketing strategies and forward-thinking programs on behalf of clients.

  • Establish, track and assure adherence to budgets, campaign and marketing objectives and KPIs.

  • Experience with social, influencer PR, and research tools including Netbase, Crimson Hexagon, IZEA, Cision, GfK Consumer Life, Sprinklr, Sprout Social, CrowdRiff, Shareablee, and more.

  • Establish social and digital program KPIs and benchmarks as well as strategies to achieve planned goals.

  • Take an active role in new business development activities (from the initial response to program development and all the way through to pitching in the room to prospective clients).



  • Seeking 7-10 years of overall experience.

  • Previous experience at an advertising, media, events, or PR agency.

  • Ability to simplify a complex digital strategy and get clients excited about new opportunities.

  • Deep experience in digital strategy across all platforms and communications channels, including but not limited to social platforms, analytics tools, digital media and content creation.

  • Experience in working with earned, paid and owned media in digital marketing programs.

  • Understanding of SEO/SEM and how it relates to owned and earned media

  • Ability to create or oversee the development of content formats spanning photo, video, graphics, GIFs, memes, cinemagraphs, Boomerang/Hyperlapse videos, and more.

  • Gravitas and savvy to counsel senior-level client executives.

  • Proven ability to prioritize and manage multiple projects/accounts, manage staff and client relationships and deliver results.

  • Strong writer and presenter with a proven track record of excellent client counseling, including strategic thinking, verbal and writing skills.
