Citizen Relations has an immediate opening for an energetic, entrepreneurial and savvy Senior Content Strategist to be based in its Los Angeles office. As a senior digital lead at Citizen, you’ll be focused on social media, branded content and interactive experiences that push digital strategic campaigns for our clients. And with experience in message development, information architecture, web development and user experience design, you’re able to create and develop content experiences that deliver real business results for your clients.

And of course, with all of these smarts to share, you’ll support digital thinking and innovation across all of our account teams with consumer clients in auto, CPG, travel, beauty and the lifestyle sectors.

Job Description

As a Senior Content Strategist, you’re more than comfortable...

  • Consulting clients to understand their business challenges and where content can help

  • Leveraging a suite of content analytics tools to conduct competitive data analysis and distill competitive insights and competitive trends then using those insights and market trends to inform content strategies

  • Translating data-driven insights into breakthrough creative ideas

  • Developing content roadmaps and evangelizing best practices with clients, colleagues and the industry-at-large

Other responsibilities include...

  • Implement digital strategies and programs that integrate within the broader marketing mix and deliver on Citizen’s promise for both innovation and measurable results, including audience development, engagement, conversion, sales, traffic and/or advocacy

  • Develops, implements and refreshes social media best practices across various platforms and social communities such as Facebook, Twitter, YouTube, Pinterest, Instagram, Snapchat, Periscope, and emerging apps/platforms

  • Creation of strategy and tactic recommendations across the owned, earned, and paid landscape

  • Serve as a counselor to support and advise account staff to incorporate digital program elements in every client recommendation

  • Development of social content calendars, audience development plans, paid media strategies, digital/social POV memos, and holistic social/digital reports

  • Establish, track and assure adherence to budgets, campaign and marketing objectives and KPIs

  • Experience with social, influencer PR, and research tools including Netbase, Crimson Hexagon, IZEA, Cision, GfK Consumer Life, Sprinklr, Sprout Social, CrowdRiff, Shareablee, and more

  • Eager to learn about and stays up to date on trends and news within tech, digital, social, mobile, and what lies ahead for the industry




  • At least 7-9 years of overall digital/social marketing experience

  • Strong writing, editing, creative and strategic thinking skills

  • Previous experience at an advertising, media, or digital agency is a huge plus

  • Strong experience and sound understanding of the unique functionality across social platforms, analytics tools, digital and paid media landscape

  • Ability to create or oversee the development of content formats spanning photo, video, graphics, GIFs, memes, cinemagraphs, Boomerang/Hyperlapse video, AR/VR and more, optimized for mobile consumption

  • Understanding of SEO/SEM and how it relates to owned and earned media

  • Ability to articulate strategies and tactics that generate results across earned, paid, and owned media in digital marketing programs

  • Ability to prioritize and manage multiple projects/accounts, manage staff, client relationships, and work cohesively with client IATs
