Job Description

The role is a combination of a sales function and product delivery and will require the individual to onboard more clients onto Visa Commercial Solutions Small Business, Middle Market and Large Clients. The individual will support all market development activities across their allocated portfolio and their identified West Africa and Ghana initiatives to drive expansion of Visa Commercial Solutions with new partners and new revenue pools and win new accounts through building stronger relationships with existing and new partners

Being a global payments technology company, we must be agile enough to deliver across WA and Ghana. Portfolio allocation is subject to change to ensure that Visa Commercial Solutions meets business objectives and WA and Ghana business demand.

In order to operate successfully, the individual will be required to demonstrate experienced knowledge of commercial payments or related B2B industries and be effective in strategic, solutions based selling across all levels, including decision makers. The individual will also need to have passion for building relationships with all the myriad of internal and external constituents. The role will report to the Director, Head of Visa Commercial Solutions, West Africa.

  • Work with the Business Development team to develop and execute strategies to increase payments volume and secure long-term revenue with Key Issuers and other key partnerships
  • Collaborate with peers and partners to build commercial solutions
  • Focus on driving new purchase volume and revenue with Visa commercial issuers across all groups, which entails securing targeted opportunities in the public & private sectors in alignment and partnership with financial institution partners
  • Develop and support strategies to capitalize on emerging customer needs and marketplace trends across identified WA and Ghana initiatives and on allocated portfolios.
  • Collaborate with Visa Commercial Solutions Hub team on new product development, technology and innovation initiatives, industry events and promotions
  • Contribute to the annual business account plan for the assigned clients, agreeing with matrixed stakeholders required actions and deliverables in close collaboration with the Country Manager and the respective Issuer AEs
  • Demonstrate a good knowledge of the Visa products and services, with experienced knowledge in, commercial solutions and broad knowledge of consumer, loyalty, merchant and acceptance, e-com, digital
  • Engages with colleagues across Visa, ensuring relevant teams are appropriately involved, informed and coordinated
  • Develop and ensure implementation of annual goals and plans
  • Utilize a consultative sales approach that ensures that the clients business objectives are met and their performance metrics are optimized
  • Analyze business opportunities to increase volume and share implementing both short and long term strategies and tactics to increase profitability
  • Travel as required, aligned to business priorities and objectives.
  • Foster a sales & performance mindset and culture across Visa that inspires our organization to sell with purpose and pride.
  • Enable and upskill client facing teams to be able to effectively sell CMS and VCS solutions.
  • Deliver the VCS West Africa, Ghana and VCS West and Central Africa Multi-year Strategic Outlook growth and revenue aspirations.

​This is a hybrid position. Expectation of days in the office will be confirmed by your Hiring Manager. 

Qualifications

Basic Qualifications:
8 or more years of relevant work experience with a Bachelor Degree or at least 5 years of experience with an Advanced Degree (e.g. Masters, MBA, JD, MD) or 2 years of work experience with a PhD

Preferred Qualifications:
9 or more years of relevant work experience with a Bachelor Degree or 7 or more relevant years of experience with an Advanced Degree (e.g. Masters, MBA, JD, MD) or 3 or more years of experience with a PhD
A minimum of 8 to10 years experience with related business development and product management experience in financial technology and or payments industry across the small business and large to middle market client segment
Past or current work experience with a minimum of 5 to 8 years in Commercial Card Issuing & Acquiring, Transaction Banking Solutions and SME banking preferred
An Africa mindset with demonstrated success aligning stakeholders in multiple countries
Proven record of implementing strategic initiatives
Demonstrated track record of planning, managing and closing a complex, competitive sales effort and managing deals from negotiation, to closing and through delivery
Teamwork, interpersonal & relationship-building skills, and ability to lead by influence and example
Confidence in building management Level communications and delivering presentations
Ability to work within a complex and often ambiguous environment, and to influence management and other relevant parties
Product management subject matter expert with experience in developing and deploying go to market strategy for payment solutions or technology a plus
Demonstrated experience in selling complex solutions or B2B product consulting
Strong trouble shooting and problem solving skills
MBA is an added advantage
Strong written and oral communication, including large-group presentations
