As an Associate Software Engineer, you will join a cross-functional agile team working on core components of the authorization platform. You will learn from experienced engineers, work on meaningful features, and contribute to Visa’s global payments ecosystem while growing your technical and industry skills.

Role Overview

You will work as part of a scrum team delivering new features, supporting production systems, and participating in Visa’s strategic adoption of Generative AI across the entire engineering lifecycle.

Previous development experience in any programming language is perfectly fine—what matters most is your curiosity, willingness to learn, and passion for building high‑quality software..

Key Responsibilities:

  • Contribute to the development of new features within the OVN authorization platform using Go and Visa’s internal tooling.
  • Participate in requirements analysis, design discussions, coding, testing, and deployment activities as part of an agile delivery team.
  • Learn and apply Visa’s proprietary rules language and real-time payment processing concepts to support the evolution of the authorization engine.
  • Assist with production system monitoring and support activities to ensure platform stability and reliability.
  • Collaborate with senior engineers, architects, and payment domain experts across multiple geographies.
  • Use software engineering best practices, including code reviews, automated testing, continuous integration, and documentation.
  • Engage with Visa’s Generative AI tools and initiatives, using agentic AI coding assistants to improve productivity and code quality.
  • Demonstrate a willingness to grow into the payment industry domain, learning ISO transaction formats and authorization flows.

Generative AI at Visa

At Visa, we are embracing Generative AI across the entire software development lifecycle. As part of this role, you will have the opportunity to:

  • Work with cutting-edge GenAI tools to support analysis, coding, testing, and documentation.
  • Contribute to internal GenAI initiatives while working on core delivery.
  • Explore emerging AI-driven engineering capabilities that accelerate developer productivity.

If you are a GenAI enthusiast, you’ll have opportunities to participate in exciting innovations while building core engineering foundation.

This is a hybrid position. Expectation of days in the office will be confirmed by your Hiring Manager.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science, Electronics/Electrical Engineering, Information Technology, or a related technical field.
  • Strong understanding of programming fundamentals (e.g., data structures, algorithms, problem‑solving).
  • Familiarity with at least one modern programming language such as Go, Java, C, C++, Python, or similar.
  • Curiosity, willingness to learn, and ability to quickly absorb new technical concepts.
  • Strong communication and collaboration skills, with a positive, team‑focused attitude.

Nice-to-Have Skills

  • Experience using agentic AI coding assistants (e.g., GitHub Copilot, Claude Code, Cline).
  • Interest in using GenAI models through APIs or SDKs for developer tooling or automation tasks.
