The Opportunity: 

The Risk and Identity Solutions (RaIS) team is leading in innovation to create secure authentication experience for our customers and partners. As a Sr. Manager of Software Engineering in RaIS, you will provide active leadership to the team to execute this mission, by leading a world-class team of engineers, defining, executing and delivering functional and non-functional features at scale quickly and promoting a culture of cross-functional collaboration and engineering excellence. We expect you to be a idea leader and bring industry practices to benefit the team. This position is based in Austin, Texas and will report to the Senior Director of Software Engineering.

Essentiual Function: 

  • Provide active guidance to the team on development, security management, release management.
  • Provide leadership to team of developers including full-time employees and contractors.
  • Invest in careers of individual developers. Mentor the team for challenges. Total team size is 7+ developers.
  • Increase team productivity through Automation/GenAI.
  • Provide technical leadership to by participating in end-to-end product development lifecycle and working with stakeholders to define delivery roadmap.
  • Build a culture of engineering excellence (quality, security, performance, scalability, availability, resilience etc.)
  • Partner with product owners in developing a strategy and roadmap that align with business goals.
  • Create an environment of trust and collaboration across stakeholders.
  • A senior manager is expected to be directly involved in development, including coding.

This is a hybrid position. Expectation of days in office will be confirmed by your hiring manager.

Qualifications

Basic Qualifications:

  • 8+ years of relevant work experience and a Bachelors degree, OR 11+ years of relevant work experience

Preferred Qualifications:

  • 9 + years of relevant work experience with a Bachelor Degree or 7+ relevant years of experience with an Advanced Degree (e.g. Masters, MBA, JD, MD) in Computer Science, Computer Engineering or related technical field required or 3+ years of experience with a PhD
  • 2+ years as a technical or team lead.
  • Strong coding background in Java, Kubernetes, MongoDB, and Redis.
  • Proven ability to improve productivity using automation or AI tools.
  • Experience collaborating in cross-functional, globally distributed teams.
  • Growth mindset, curiosity, and a drive to learn and apply new technologies (e.g., React, Angular, Docker).
  • Excellent communication, mentorship, and stakeholder management skills.
  • Experience in UI/UX development is a plus.
  • MBA or leadership certification is a plus.
  • Demonstrated success in hiring, mentoring, and developing diverse, high-performing teams.

Additional Information

Work Hours: Varies upon the needs of the department.

Travel Requirements: This position requires travel 5-10% of the time.

Mental/Physical Requirements: This position will be performed in an office setting.  The position will require the incumbent to sit and stand at a desk, communicate in person and by telephone, frequently operate standard office equipment, such as telephones and computers.

U.S. APPLICANTS ONLY: The estimated salary range for a new hire into this position is 162,500.00 to 235,950.00 USD per year, which may include potential sales incentive payments (if applicable). Salary may vary depending on job-related factors which may include knowledge, skills, experience, and location. In addition, this position may be eligible for bonus and equity. Visa has a comprehensive benefits package for which this position may be eligible that includes Medical, Dental, Vision, 401 (k), FSA/HSA, Life Insurance, Paid Time Off, and Wellness Program.
