Job Description
The Strategic Program Director is responsible for the end-to-end lifecycle of multiple strategic business and operational initiatives. This includes defining program strategy and objectives, designing program structure and governance, leading execution, and managing cross-functional program teams and stakeholders, including executives. Additionally, the Strategic Program Director must be a change agent capable of building the vertical and horizontal consensus required to successfully drive change across the organization and deliver on program objectives.
Strategic Vision and Roadmap Development: Set a clear strategic vision for multiple initiative types, develop detailed roadmaps, and ensure alignment with organizational goals.
Program and Project Management: Oversee the planning, execution, and delivery of programs and projects, ensuring they are completed on time, within scope, and within budget.
Change Management: Act as a change agent, driving and managing change across the organization, and ensuring smooth transitions and adoption of new processes and initiatives.
Cross-Functional Team Leadership: Lead and manage cross-functional teams, fostering collaboration and ensuring effective communication, even with team members who do not report directly to you.
Stakeholder Engagement: Engage with key stakeholders, including the Executive Sponsor and senior leaders (SVPs) in both Client Services and other organizations across Visa, to ensure alignment, gather feedback, and communicate progress and outcomes effectively.
Performance Monitoring and Reporting: Monitor program and project performance, identify areas for improvement, and provide regular updates and reports to senior leadership.
Consensus Building: Build consensus at all levels of Client Services and stakeholder organizations to ensure smooth execution and alignment of initiatives.
This is a hybrid position. Expectation of days in office will be confirmed by your hiring manager.
Qualifications
Basic Qualifications
•10 or more years of work experience with a Bachelor’s Degree or at least 8 years of work experience with an Advanced Degree (e.g. Masters/ MBA/JD/MD) or at least 3 years of work experience with a PhD
Preferred Qualifications
•12 or more years of work experience with a Bachelor’s Degree or 8-10 years of experience with an Advanced Degree (e.g. Masters, MBA, JD, MD) or 6+ years of work experience with a PhD
•The ideal candidate will be an intellectually curious strategic thinker with strong execution capabilities, ideally with a background in management consulting, corporate or organizational strategy, and business operations in the payments and/or fintech space. Additionally, the ideal candidate will possess the following skills and capabilities:
•Business Acumen and Consulting Skills: Support differing types of strategic initiatives (e.g., segment optimization, new organization/functional design and operating models, process and automation).
•Creative Strategic Thinking: Develop creative solutions to business problems with structured problem-solving skills.
•Proven Experience: Lead complex, global business strategy and operational programs and projects (non-technical).
•Influence and Consensus Building: Exercise influence and build consensus at all levels of the organization.
•Executive Presence: Develop and deliver executive-facing presentations, and clearly and persuasively present complex information.
•Change Management: Successfully drive organizational change in heavily matrixed organizations.
