Job Description

The Director, Content Strategy and Social Creative is part of the Global Content Strategy, Development & Distribution team. This individual will be part of a global team responsible for developing best-in-class social content on behalf of Visa’s marketing positioning and voice.

This individual will lead creative direction for all of Visa’s social platforms – with a special focus on always-on and reactive content -- developing concepts, content and extensions that align with brand and business objectives. This person should have passion and experience in:

  • Generating innovative, social-first content and campaigns designed for always-on and reactive moments, particularly those across Sports, Music, and Travel.

  • Concepting, directing, writing, and producing content alongside internal and external creative partners for both planned and reactive moments.

  • Translating social insights and brand strategy into best-in-class social content and creative.

  • Leading cross-functional teams to brainstorm, refine, and execute global social campaigns and content across priority platforms, including TikTok, Instagram, YouTube and X.

  • Coaching, teaching, and developing members of the team – both direct reports and collaborators – to create social-first content that’s right sized to the moment, on-trend, and on-brand.

Essential Functions:

  • Use social insights and best practices to create bespoke content designed to breakthrough on priority platforms, especially during always-on moments and reactive/real-time opportunities.

  • Partner with Social Strategists to identify communities, conversations, and cultural moments (via social listening and analysis) at the intersection of on-trend and on-brand. Evaluate intersections for brand relevance and creative potential.

  • Develop copy and creative in response to real-time trends and reactive opportunities.

  • Partner with external agencies and internal stakeholders to develop best-in-class, social-native content, inspiring creative confidence and modeling collaboration, a bias to yes, and adaptability.

  • Proactively plan, manage, and direct content capture opportunities and real-time social campaigns, inclusive of high-profile sponsorships, creator collaborations, and VIP talent.

  • Translate platform-level best practices, algorithm shifts and competitive intelligence into strategic recommendations and creative territories.

  • Set and model high creative standards, including brand voice and guidelines, leading through example and inspiring partnership and learning across cross-functional and regional teams.

  • Mine, track and identify trends from the Visa community that can inform future strategies, franchises and campaigns.

This is a hybrid position. Expectation of days in office will be confirmed by your Hiring Manager.

Qualifications

Basic Qualifications:
• 8+ years of work experience with a Bachelor’s Degree

Preferred Qualifications:
• 10+ years experience in Creative Director or Social Marketing roles on the brand or agency side.
• Deep experience leading social content production, ranging from short-form to long-form content with a storytelling lens.
• Portfolio of social-first content or extensions, especially those across Sports, Music, and Travel, as part of always-on or reactive social moments.
• Deep understanding of the creative and production process, with proven ability to partner across key functions, including Brand, Strategy, Editorial, Production, Operations, Media, and Creators.
• Strong understanding of best-in-class campaigns and content by social platform.
• Content strategy, financial services or payments industry experience preferred.
• Extremely organized with keen attention to detail.
• Experience collaborating across complex global teams.
• Bias for action, not bureaucracy. Able to act nimbly while rallying cross-functional teams.
• Proven ability to drive results with a high degree of personal initiative and subject matter expertise in a fast-paced, dynamic environment with limited resources.

Additional Information

Work Hours: Varies upon the needs of the department.

Travel Requirements: This position requires travel 5-10% of the time.

Mental/Physical Requirements: This position will be performed in an office setting.  The position will require the incumbent to sit and stand at a desk, communicate in person and by telephone, frequently operate standard office equipment, such as telephones and computers.

U.S. APPLICANTS ONLY: The estimated salary range for a new hire into this position is 162,000 to 211,000 per year, which may include potential sales incentive payments (if applicable). Salary may vary depending on job-related factors which may include knowledge, skills, experience, and location. In addition, this position may be eligible for bonus and equity.
