Job Description

Visa Technology & Operations LLC, a Visa Inc. company, needs a Sr. Manager, Data Engineering (multiple openings) in Austin, TX to

  • Responsible for building a strong data engineering team for diverse corporate use cases, including pricing and billing.
  • Grow and expand the team with an eye toward diverse and forward pushing skills that span data engineering, experimentation, and building resilient solutions.
  • Provide technical leadership responsibilities and improve engagement in leading and inspiring teams in their performance and responsibilities.
  • Engage in technical and functional discussion with all engineering teams with strong interpersonal and organizational skills to effectively manage multiple work streams.
  • Lead strong partnerships with key stakeholders, including product management, engineering, finance, and operations.
  • Lead feedback and influence high end technical designs into core platform strategy, roadmap, and adoption.
  • Establish best practices in application development using engineering excellence and operational excellence.
  • Adhere to Visa’s Leadership Principles (VLPs) with excellent communication, storytelling, and presentation skills.
  • Build an inclusive team culture that is innovative and collaborative.
  • Position has direct report(s).
  • Position reports to the Employer’s Austin, Texas office and may allow for partial telecommuting.

Qualifications

Basic Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Electronics Engineering, or related technical field followed by 12 years of progressive, post baccalaureate experience in the job offered or in a Sr. Manager-related occupation.
  • Building large-scale data processing pipelines and managing technical application development using SOA and distributed technologies.
  • Unix, SQL, Java, Hadoop, Hive, Spark, Drools Rule engine and CI/CD tools.
  • Delivery leadership, including systems rationalization and architectural options to optimize performance and drive down costs, experience in a complex organization.
  • Design thinking process to understand users, challenge assumptions, redefine problems, and create innovative solutions to prototype, and solve business problems.
  • Agile software development practice using JIRA, Rally or similar products.
  • Building and leading dynamic and geographically distributed technology organizations in a highly matrixed environment.
  • Planning, negotiation, and project management.
  • Delivering large-scale global projects on time and within budget.

Additional Information

Worksite: Austin, TX

This is a hybrid position. Hybrid employees can alternate time between both remote and office. Employees in hybrid roles are expected to work from the office 2-3 set days a week (determined by leadership/site), with a general guidepost of being in the office 50% or more of the time based on business needs.

Travel Requirements:  This position does not require travel.

Mental/Physical Requirements: This position will be performed in an office setting.  The position will require the incumbent to sit and stand at a desk, communicate in person and by telephone, frequently operate standard office equipment, such as telephones and computers.

U.S. APPLICANTS ONLY: The estimated salary range for a new hire into this position is $212,514.00 USD to $265,900.00 USD per year, which may include potential sales incentive payments (if applicable). Salary may vary depending on job-related factors which may include knowledge, skills, experience, and location. In addition, this position may be eligible for bonus and equity.
