Job Description
We are looking for Versatile, curious, and energetic Software Engineers who embrace solving complex challenges on a global scale. As a Visa Software Engineer, you will be an integral part of a multi-functional development team inventing, designing, building, and testing software products that reach a truly global customer base. While building components of powerful payment technology, you will get to see your efforts shaping the digital future of monetary transactions.
The Work Itself:
- Design code and systems that touch 40% of the world population while influencing Visa’s internal standards for scalability, security, and reusability
- Collaborate cross-functionally to create design artifacts and develop best-in-class software solutions for multiple Visa technical offerings
- Execute software testing request on a regular / need basis, ensuring the highest quality in application software testing.
- Apply critical thinking and problem-solving skills to testing challenges and test findings, work in collaboration with others to analyze issues discovered in testing / testing gap introduced issues.
- Discuss and align on test / UAT requirement with project / product team / development team and create test plan.
- Create, develop, and maintain test case and test suites automation.
- Develop applications for test engineering to help with testing effort / enhance existing software.
- Innovate on existing software testing processes where applicable along with introduce necessary efficiency and optimization.
- Investigate bugs using various available tools and logs
- Support cross-functional teams in integrated test efforts.
- Report project status and issues to Project Managers and Management
- Estimate, prioritize, plan, and coordinate testing activities
- Opportunities to make a difference on a global or local scale through mentorship and continued learning opportunities
Essential Functions:
- Works under close guidance to implement basic enhancements and modifications to existing software that complies with design specifications and meets security best practices.
- Learns about automations that improve effectiveness and efficiencies of systems and tools.
- Engages with team members to receive feedback on code and testing
- Follows instructions from manager to implement improvements to testing activity, code, processes, and designs with and understands customer/business objectives.
**We do not expect that any single candidate would fulfill all of these characteristics. For instance, we have awesome team members who are really focused on building scalable systems but didn’t work with payments technology or web applications before joining Visa.
This is a hybrid position. Hybrid employees can alternate time between both remote and office. Employees in hybrid roles are expected to work from the office 2-3 set days a week (determined by leadership/site), with a general guidepost of being in the office 50% or more of the time based on business needs.
Qualifications
Basic Qualifications
• Bachelors degree, OR 3+ years of relevant work experience
Preferred Qualifications
• 2 or more years of work experience
• Knowledge of and ability to develop back-end (e.g. Python, Java, C++, PHP)
code in support of package and product development. This includes the
extension of capabilities of packages and products.
• The ability to develop and utilize Application Program Interfaces (APIs), a set
of routines, protocols, and tools for building software applications that specify
how software components should interact and are used when programming
graphical user interface (GUI) components. An API may be for a web-based
system, operating system, database system, computer hardware, or software
library.
• Knowledge of and the ability to use database software (e.g., applications, web-
based applications, information systems) to maintain, modify, and output data.
• Knowledge of systems integration process in which separately produced
components or subsystems are combined and problems in their interactions
are addressed.
• Knowledge of data structures, which consist of data organization,
management, and storage formats that enable efficient access and
modifications. This includes a collection of data values, the relationships
among them, and the functions or operations that can be applied to the data.
• Energy and Experience: A growth mindset that is curious and passionate about
technologies and enjoys challenging projects on a global scale
• Challenge the Status Quo: Comfort in pushing the boundaries, 'hacking'
beyond traditional solutions
• Language Expertise: Expertise in one or more general development languages
(e.g., Java, C#, C++)

applications with quality and scalability

Kubernetes, Docker, etc.
• Partnership: Experience collaborating with Product, Test, Dev-ops, and
Agile/Scrum teams
Additional Information
Work Hours: Varies upon the needs of the department.
Travel Requirements: This position requires travel 5-10% of the time.
Mental/Physical Requirements: This position will be performed in an office setting. The position will require the incumbent to sit and stand at a desk, communicate in person and by telephone, frequently operate standard office equipment, such as telephones and computers.

U.S. APPLICANTS ONLY: The estimated salary range for a new hire into this position is 84,600.00 to 119,650.00 USD per year, which may include potential sales incentive payments (if applicable). Salary may vary depending on job-related factors which may include knowledge, skills, experience, and location. In addition, this position may be eligible for bonus and equity.
