Job Description

The North America (NA) Valued Added Services (VAS) Deal Finance role is a function housed within the NA VAS Finance Team and will be responsible for providing financial analysis, deal modeling and deal pricing expertise to improve overall deal experience for the NA VAS Organization. This includes driving and supporting end-to-end deal execution activities in close partnership with account executives and cross functional leaders across a broad spectrum of the VAS business. The role comes with high visibility to executive leadership and will be a critical enabler for attaining our ambitious BAS business growth aspirations.

The Finance Director will report into the Vice President, Head of NA VAS Finance and comes with high visibility to executive leadership, while being a critical enabler to deliver our ambitious VAS business growth aspirations.

You will be a Finance leader that drives strong deal management rigor and delivers seamless execution throughout the commercial process – from deal structuring through contract execution. You will act as a Strategic Deal Partner and collaborate with various stakeholders to drive sustainable revenue growth for the VAS business. The successful candidate will be technically adept with high degrees of financial and business acumen, strong ability to think strategically and holistically about the business, capable of identifying and proactively resolving issues, and excel at quickly grasping and clearly communicating complex topics.

Essential Functions:

  • Support deal teams on activities to deliver against our deal strategy and VAS revenue / business goals alongside various business partners, including:
    • Structuring client / Visa VAS negotiated commitments and associated pricing
    • Supporting sales teams in negotiation and execution of deals
    • Reviewing and approving contracts / client incentive agreements
    • Ensuring our VAS business meets critical financial and contractual commitments
  • Drive activities on the most complex and strategic deals – Own the development of detailed financial models and analyses to structure client incentive deals, utilizing and producing different financial outputs as appropriate (including VAS Portfolio P&L, margin implications, projected cash flow and amortization schedules)
  • Advance VAS’ multi-year growth aspirations as a Strategic Deal Partner:
    • Provide senior management with critical inputs to make tough deal decisions
    • Provide expertise / thought leadership to stakeholders on best practices, including education and training on deal structuring, deal strategy, deal metrics
  • Manage deals through the offer approval and execution process on behalf of Finance, coordinating with stakeholders.
  • Proactively and independently identify, communicate, and solve business issues related to incentive structures, contract language, and incentive negotiations.
  • Collaborate and partner with Sales and Legal teams to provide support and direction regarding appropriate contract structures and terms.
  • Participate and resolve financial structure and contractual issues during negotiations with clients, and the approval of contract language to ensure consistency with approved financial terms.
  • Prepare ad-hoc analyses and reports as needed.
  • Support training and development of generalist and specialist sellers on deal processes and tools.

This is a hybrid position. Hybrid employees can alternate time between both remote and office. Employees in hybrid roles are expected to work from the office 2-3 set days a week (determined by leadership/site), with a general guidepost of being in the office 50% or more of the time based on business needs.

Qualifications

Basic Qualifications:
•10 or more years of work experience with a Bachelor’s Degree or at least 8 years of work experience with an Advanced Degree (e.g. Masters/ MBA/JD/MD) or at least 3 years of work experience with a PhD

Preferred Qualifications:
•12 or more years of work experience with a Bachelor’s Degree or 8-10 years of experience with an Advanced Degree (e.g. Masters, MBA, JD, MD) or 6+ years of work experience with a PhD
• Strong financial transaction analysis, contract or pricing negotiation experience required, familiarity with deal structuring and modeling
• Highly strategic thinker combined with a strong business acumen and ability to rapidly establish a broad and deep understanding of the payments business landscape

Additional Information

Work Hours: Varies upon the needs of the department.

Travel Requirements: This position requires travel 5-10% of the time.

Mental/Physical Requirements: This position will be performed in an office setting.  The position will require the incumbent to sit and stand at a desk, communicate in person and by telephone, frequently operate standard office equipment, such as telephones and computers.

U.S. APPLICANTS ONLY: The estimated salary range for a new hire into this position is 163,000 to 236,450 USD per year, which may include potential sales incentive payments (if applicable). Salary may vary depending on job-related factors which may include knowledge, skills, experience, and location. In addition, this position may be eligible for bonus and equity.
