Job Description

What’s it all about?

  • This role is a leadership position focused on managing and directing a team dedicated to ensuring excellence in reconciliations, implementing a client-focused mindset, developing robust control systems, designing and roll out of a new reconciliation tool and continuously improving processes within the VPL Reconciliations team.  
  • This role involves strategic collaboration with Risk & Compliance, Product & Tech teams, and across all Snr Directors within Operations, in addition to regular reporting to the VPL leadership team and MD. The Director will be responsible for a team of +10 individuals across two locations, fostering a culture of high performance and continuous improvement.
  • This role finally is responsible for FCA safeguarding compliance across the whole of the VPL Operations Team. Non-compliance to these regulations may result in the loss of the VPL operating license.  

What we expect of you, day to day.

  • Lead and manage a team focused on providing excellence in reconciliations, ensuring daily account reconciliations, understanding breaks, and taking actions to resolve discrepancies.
  • Drive a client-focused mindset across the team, manage unapplied and overdue debits to mitigate negative impact, and consistently strive for process efficiency and improvement.
  • Develop and execute a reconciliation strategy for VPL, aligning with business requirements, addressing regulatory safeguarding requirements, and implementing change programs as required.
  • Collaborate with Client and Network Partner facing teams to ensure reconciliation adds value and supports the onboarding of new clients and routes, actively participating in cross-functional workshops and delivery projects.
  • Lead the implementation of a new reconciliation tool, collaborating with Treasury, Technology, and Product teams across the Visa estate, to eliminate inefficiencies and focus on value-add.
  • Report directly to the Visa Payments Limited MD and Leadership team on all topics relating to safeguarding across the full Operations team.
  • Work closely with Compliance, Payment Ops, and Treasury to ensure VPL aligns with safeguarding regulations, including the development, ownership, and daily monitoring of the FCA requirements of Internal and External reconciliations.
  • Ensure compliance with all regulatory safeguarding policies and procedures owned by the Visa Payments Limited Operations team, staying up to date with all relevant regulations.
  • Develop and implement robust control systems and a quality assurance (QA) process for all reconciliation activities to prevent discrepancies and financial loss.
  • Maintain regular 1:1s, succession planning, and provide training to staff regarding all safeguarding requirements and controls, promoting a culture of high performance and continuous improvement.
  • Work with change management to produce accurate and timely management information (MI) reports, highlighting trends, discrepancies, and areas for improvement.
  • Establish a system for notification and alerting, aligning with service level agreements (SLAs), to promptly identify and address any issues.
  • Work closely with Product & Tech teams to prioritize and manage the rollout of Reconciliation projects.
  • Develop excellent collaborative working relationships across all VPL teams and proactively with peers leading Reconciliation teams across the company.
  • Delegate for Head of Payments & Reconciliation as required.

 

This is a hybrid position. Hybrid employees can alternate time between both remote and office. Employees in hybrid roles are expected to work from the office 2-3 set days a week (determined by leadership/site), with a general guidepost of being in the office 50% or more of the time based on business needs.

Qualifications

5+ years prior experience in a leadership role, with a track record of managing and developing teams to deliver high performance.

Experience within VPL and understanding of the EPS2 system.

Proven experience managing large operational teams.

Experience in managing and rolling out control systems.

Ability and confidence to communicate at executive levels.

Experience in compliance with and understanding of FCA Safeguarding requirements.

Proven experience using management information (MI) reports for decision making.

Demonstrable experience managing large-scale, strategic projects, preferably in a tech-driven environment.

Proven track record of delivering training and support on safeguarding issues and regulations.

Experience in working with Product & Tech teams to prioritize and manage the rollout of projects.

Strong line manager with experience in managing Manager level employees.
