Job Description
We are seeking a Director to join the Client Incentives Operations (CIO) team at Visa Europe, tasked with leading a segment of clusters. This role is pivotal within Visa Europe's CIO team, which is integral to the contra revenue accounting and various projects, operating under the Global CIO, the larger umbrella of the Global Controllership function within Global Finance.
The CIO is entrusted with the management of Client Incentive agreements, ensuring the accurate accounting treatment of incentives in line with US GAAP and adherence to the contractual terms of executed Client Agreements. This encompasses verification of performance conditions and examination of any contingent liability clauses. The team oversees all lifecycle events of executed contracts, which includes constructing financial models for incentive accruals, conducting quarterly true-ups, handling payments, and overseeing contract renewals. The role demands a high level of complexity and significant collaboration with other teams, including Deals, Client Incentive Market Specialists, and Account Executives.
Beyond leading accounting and operational duties, the individual will also spearhead significant enhancements in our processes. The Director will be responsible for guiding projects, fostering thought leadership, establishing best practices, and ensuring the global alignment of our processes.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead a CIO cohort who are fully accountable for managing all lifecycle events and accounting requirements associated with Client Incentive agreements.
- Oversee contra revenue accounting entries, balance sheet account reconciliations, financial performance insights, and internal and external reporting for month-end, quarterly, and year-end reporting.
- Provide CIO subject matter expertise, including Value-in-Kind and cost certainty client incentive clauses, to offer accounting and operational guidance on new business initiatives with Finance and non-Finance stakeholders.
- Champion simplification, standardization, and continuous enhancement of processes and controls to ensure efficient financial reporting and operational processes. This includes collaborating with relevant stakeholders to drive a successful end-to-end approach to reporting.
- Lead pivotal projects and Global initiatives.
- Influence business decisions with effective verbal and written communication, data-driven analysis, and the presentation of alternatives.
- Research and assess technical accounting considerations relating to new business activities.
- Provide mentorship and guidance to support team members' career development. Encourage a culture of continuous learning and knowledge sharing.
- Manage CIO's Internal/SOX/Stat Audits as well as regulatory reporting.
This is a hybrid position. Hybrid employees can alternate time between both remote and office. Employees in hybrid roles are expected to work from the office 2-3 set days a week (determined by leadership/site), with a general guidepost of being in the office 50% or more of the time based on business needs.
Qualifications
- Qualified accountant (ACA/ACCA/CIMA), ideally with a mix of public accounting experience and PLC experience
- Extensive experience of progressive Financial Control experience in a fast-paced environment
- Experienced managing large teams, proven track record of owning and driving results individually and through a team in a high change and ambiguous operating environments.
- Demonstrated experience building high performing teams through the identification and development of talent.
- Track record in driving simplification, standardization and continuous improvement of existing processes.
- Demonstrable experience in working with upstream stakeholders in a complex organisation to achieve successful end-to-end approach to reporting.
- Sound business judgment, proven ability to influence others, including the ability to persuade with data.
- Strong understanding of accounting standards including IFRS 15, and experienced in researching and challenging technical matters.
- Exceptional verbal and written communication skills
