Job Description

As a Director of Software Engineering, the candidate would lead a team of 15+ members made up of both full-time employees and contractors. The product is aligned Predictive AI, hence we are looking for a candidate with strong Data Engineering, AI and ML background. The candidate needs to be hands on with technical details and provide leadership to engineering teams by participating in design, performing design reviews, code reviews, test strategy alignment across teams. He/She needs to partner with product owners in developing a strategy and roadmap that meets business goals. The candidate would inherit a team with strong culture of engineering excellence (quality, security, performance, scalability, availability, resilience etc.). He/She needs to build on the culture and be responsible for hiring the right talents. The Director needs invest in creating career paths for engineers and be responsible for end-to-end delivery. Candidates with experience of managing global stakeholders will be strongly preferred. 

The Director would be reporting to a Senior Director in Visa.

This is a hybrid position. Hybrid employees can alternate time between both remote and office. Employees in hybrid roles are expected to work from the office 2-3 set days a week (determined by leadership/site), with a general guidepost of being in the office 50% or more of the time based on business needs.
 

Qualifications

• 15 or more years of work experience with a Bachelor’s Degree or with an Advanced Degree.
• This is an Engineering Leadership position. The candidate must have hands on experience in Data Engineering, AI and ML.
• Degree in Computer Science or a related technical field is required. An advanced degree in AI/ML or related field is preferred.
• The candidate should have at least 3 years experience in leading technology teams.
• Proficiency in Spark, Hadoop, Kafka, or similar technologies is a must.
• Experience in implementing AI and ML methods is required, specifically techniques used in identity verification, fraud detection, or risk prediction scenarios such as Identity Graph, Decision Trees, Random Forests, Logistic Regression, Neural Networks, SVM, or Anomaly Detection algorithms.
• Experience with relational and NoSQL databases.
• Proven experience in delivering highly scalable and available production systems.
• Strong analytical, problem-solving skills, and the ability to articulate complex concepts clearly.
• Strong business acumen, with the ability to understand the big picture and explain it to the team in simple terms.
• A proven track record of hiring and managing high-performing data engineers, AI specialists, and ML specialists.
• Experience with Agile methodologies and software development lifecycle principles. Should be able to manage the team based on Agile principles.
• Ability to manage multiple top priorities in a fast-paced environment.
