About the Global Privacy Office

Visa’s growing Global Privacy Office within Visa’s Legal Department is Visa's central touchpoint for global data strategy, privacy compliance, information governance, and legal aspects of information security. Visa's global payments network connects thousands of banks and millions of merchants in over 200 countries and territories, with trillions of dollars of transactions passing over our network each year. Our goal is to enable data-centric business opportunities while protecting the Visa brand. To do this we engage with and provide privacy services to Visa business teams responsible for data analytics, direct-to-consumer digital services, business-to-business services, and support for loyalty programs and offers, among others. We operate Visa's global privacy program, advising Information Security, Human Resources, and other internal groups on privacy issues.

Position Summary

You will have the opportunity to be involved in the company's global privacy program and strategy. Depending on the candidate's skills and interests and business needs, they will:

  • Be primarily responsible for reviewing, negotiating, and drafting global privacy and data protection terms (e.g. DPA) with vendors and suppliers.

  • Assist in developing privacy training materials, data protection playbooks, and providing training to employees on privacy-related obligations.

  • Work collaboratively with product and privacy counsel to support and provide legal advice on the data privacy and contract remediation required in accordance with new laws and regulations (e.g., contract projects related to Schrems II, CCPA, the EU AI Act, etc.).

  • Building and maintaining relationships with key stakeholders in our vendor management, sourcing, and privacy teams.

This is a hybrid position. Hybrid employees can alternate time between both remote and office. Employees in hybrid roles are expected to work from the office 2-3 set days a week (determined by leadership/site), with a general guidepost of being in the office 50% or more of the time based on business needs.

Qualifications

Basic Qualifications:
--2 or more years of work experience with a Bachelor’s Degree or an Advanced Degree (e.g. Masters, MBA, JD, MD, or PhD)
--Juris Doctor degree or foreign equivalent with strong academic credentials
--Admission to practice law in at least one U.S. jurisdiction
--Experience providing practical advice to clients on data use and privacy issues
--Excellent written, oral and presentation skills
--Excellent interpersonal skills. Must have the ability to interact well and build excellent working relationships with all levels of management
--A high level of self-motivation, initiative, and ability to operate effectively as a team player across different business units, and
--A passion to engage deeply with complex data use and privacy issues.

Preferred Qualifications:
--3 or more years of work experience with a Bachelor’s Degree or more than 2 years of work experience with an Advanced Degree (e.g. Masters, MBA, JD, MD)
--Experience in the payments industry, and
--One or more CIPP certification(s).

Additional Information

Work Hours: Varies upon the needs of the department.

Travel Requirements: This position requires travel 5-10% of the time.

Mental/Physical Requirements: This position will be performed in an office setting.  The position will require the incumbent to sit and stand at a desk, communicate in person and by telephone, frequently operate standard office equipment, such as telephones and computers.

U.S. APPLICANTS ONLY: The estimated salary range for a new hire into this position is 149,000.00 to 210,500.00 USD per year, which may include potential sales incentive payments (if applicable). Salary may vary depending on job-related factors which may include knowledge, skills, experience, and location. In addition, this position may be eligible for bonus and equity.
