Job Description

Payments is an exciting and rapidly developing field, teeming with fresh and innovative ideas. With a strong demand for new solutions, this space promises to be a hotbed of innovation for the next 5 to 10 years. If you're eager to immerse yourself in the dynamic world of payments, learn quickly, and make significant impacts, then the Ecosystem and Operational Risk team at VISA is the ideal place for you!

The Ecosystem and Operational Risk team is seeking curious, creative, and skilled technologists to join us. This position is for a summer intern, who will work on one or more hands-on projects with the team; discovering new ways to work with data, Large Language Models (LLM) and software development. You should be a passionate and talented developer capable of working in a dynamic environment. Your strong technical skills, leadership, problem-solving abilities, and proficiency in coding, testing, and debugging are just the beginning. You should be willing to step out of your comfort zone, challenge yourself, and be prepared to take on a variety of tasks.

Some examples of summer intern job duties and projects:

  • Work with cross-functional teams to research, identify, or analyze solutions
  • Navigate effectively across internal organizations in support of complex product requirements
  • Identify opportunities for enhancements and refinements to products, standards, and methodologies.
  • Collaborate with team members (Product Managers, Architects, Analysts, Software Engineers, Project Managers, etc.) to develop and implement data-driven business solutions.

Qualifications

Basic Qualifications

  • Pursuing a Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, CIS/MIS, Cybersecurity, Business or a related field, graduating December 2024 or later
  • Strong communications skills, specifically, the absence of repeated grammatical or typographical errors, clear and concise written and spoken communications, and communications that demonstrate professional judgment.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Proficiency in at least one programming language or technology including, but not limited, to Python, Java, Hadoop, Scala
  • Experience with Machine Learning, AI, or Generative AI
  • Strong ability to collaborate
  • Highly driven, resourceful and results oriented
  • Good team player and excellent interpersonal skills
  • Good analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Demonstrated ability to lead and navigate through ambiguity

Additional Information

U.S. APPLICANTS ONLY: The estimated hourly range for a new hire into this position is $28.00/hr - $33.00/hr USD, which may include potential sales incentive payments (if applicable).  Salary may vary depending on job-related factors which may include knowledge, skills, experience, and location. In addition, this position may be eligible for bonus and equity.  Visa has a comprehensive benefits package for which this position may be eligible that includes Medical, Dental, Vision, 401 (k), FSA/HSA, Life Insurance, Paid Time Off, and Wellness Program.

Work Hours: Varies upon the needs of the department.

Travel Requirements: This position requires travel 5-10% of the time.

Mental/Physical Requirements: This position will be performed in an office setting.  The position will require the incumbent to sit and stand at a desk, communicate in person and by telephone, frequently operate standard office equipment, such as telephones and computers.
