Job Description

Visa is seeking an experienced Sr. Director of Engineer to lead our engineering teams across Visa Direct locations globally. This individual will act as one of the key technology leaders to provide oversight in building the next generation payments platform for moving funds across various account types (cards, bank accounts, wallets) as well as providing value added services based on local market needs. The successful candidate will be responsible for hiring top engineering talent, understanding business objectives, and ensuring that solutions are designed to meet those objectives.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Accountable for hiring top engineering talent and growing the engineering team in across Visa Direct locations globally.

  • Be able to instill engineering excellence across the team to ensure that the solutions developed are secure, of high quality, scalable, and maintainable.

  • Create an outstanding engineering culture of creativity and innovation embodying whatever it takes attitude with ownership and pride in work.

  • Work collaboratively across team boundaries to develop common infrastructure and functional capabilities with reusability as a key design tenant and ensure they can be used across the entire Visa Ecosystem.

  • Be hyper-focused on improving productivity by constantly reducing complexity and waste and leveraging cutting-edge capabilities like ChatGPT and Copilot.

  • Extensive cross-organization collaboration playing a crucial role in interfacing with various technology teams and stakeholders to identify requirements, prioritize, and drive execution using agile methodologies. Provide feedback to core product teams to influence roadmap and strategy.

  • Have the capability to lead multiple projects simultaneously, resolve scheduling & other conflicts, to meet all deadlines.

  • Be accountable for providing necessary support to ensure that the application meets the desired OLA and SLA objectives.

This is a hybrid position. Hybrid employees can alternate time between both remote and office. Employees in hybrid roles are expected to work from the office 2-3 set days a week (determined by leadership/site), with a general guidepost of being in the office 50% or more of the time based on business needs.

Qualifications

Basic Qualifications:

  • Master's degree in Math, Science, Engineering, or Computer Science, Information Systems or related field AND minimum seven (10) years of experience in a directly related field. OR
  • Bachelor's degree in Math, Science, Engineering, or Computer Science, Information Systems or related field AND minimum nine (12) years of experience in a directly related field. OR
  • Minimum twelve (17) years of directly related experience.


Preferred Qualifications:
• 15 or more years of experience with a Bachelor’s Degree or 12 years of experience with an Advanced Degree (e.g. Masters, MBA, JD, or MD), PhD with 9+ years of experience
• Prior experience must include leadership for mission-critical system applications supporting high transaction systems.
• Demonstrate experience in building software preferably in domains that require high through-put and low-latency.
• Highly impactful leader with a technology background and the ability to engage in cross functional priorities.
• Demonstrate success in onshore-offshore organizational transformations along fostering a culture that encourages discipline, innovation in agile product development process across borders.
• Professional experience in ideation, execution, delivery and supporting products in Production.
• Demonstrate longer-term strategic thinking and staying ahead of state-of-the-art curve to keep abreast with what’s possible technically, operationally, and professionally.
• Capable of forming and advocating independent viewpoint. Demonstrate strong skills influencing, negotiating, and communicating.
• Experience in Java/J2EE technologies, Container, and database technologies.
• Understand the Security requirements and standards and contemporary trends in Security risks as well as technologies.
• Domain experience in Cross-Border money movement and Payment Technologies

Additional Information

Work Hours: Varies upon the needs of the department.

Travel Requirements: This position requires travel 5-10% of the time.

Mental/Physical Requirements: This position will be performed in an office setting.  The position will require the incumbent to sit and stand at a desk, communicate in person and by telephone, frequently operate standard office equipment, such as telephones and computers.

U.S. APPLICANTS ONLY: The estimated salary range for a new hire into this position is 192,700.00 to 265,000.00 USD per year, which may include potential sales incentive payments (if applicable). Salary may vary depending on job-related factors which may include knowledge, skills, experience, and location. In addition, this position may be eligible for bonus and equity.
