Risk and Identity Solutions team within VAS (Value added Services) organization is looking for curious, creative, and talented technologists to join our team. This includes idea generation, architecture, design, development, and testing of products, applications, and services that provide Visa clients with solutions to detect, prevent, and mitigate fraud for Visa and Visa client payment systems.
This position is ideal for a software engineer who is passionate about solving challenging business problems and building applications that provide an excellent user experience. You will be part of our Visa Risk Manager team who will focus on creating new capabilities for Risk Platform. Sometimes you will be designing brand-new software solutions, and at other times you may be refactoring existing functionality for performance and maintainability, but always working on ways to make us more efficient and provide better solutions to our customers.
Essential Functions:
- We are looking for a technically expert Staff Software Engineer for our team based out our Austin office to assure client success in using out product.
- This role requires quick troubleshooting and problem-solving skills, logical thinking, and application of programming techniques to design, build, and maintain solution for clients. Deep knowledge of computer science fundamentals, mobile & web technologies, multi-tiered architecture, and experience in tools development. In addition to the technical skill set and passion for learning new technology, the candidate will be a self-starter, results-driven, and equipped with excellent verbal and written communication skills to interface with external teams & stakeholders. Successful candidate will have a flair for out-of-box thinking and be passionate about mentoring and coaching junior software engineers.
- Build Performance tools and frameworks with focus on load and stress testing. Tools like LoadRunner, Gatling and Jmeter.
- Scale the largest web capacity in the world, identify scaling issues and help solve them.
- Tackle the state-of-the-art hardware performance issues: Analyze and debug difficult server performance issues (latest in industry), identify bottlenecks and optimize product/service performance to improve user experience.
- Develop coolest tools to monitor billions of user requests: Create monitoring, reporting, data-mining tools to do performance and capacity-related tests and analysis.
- Find the game changers and bring them on: Work with financial analysts, operations and engineering to perform cutting-edge technologies investigation and cost analysis.
- Work on developing different test frameworks/tools/utilities, test data management and improving overall testing effectiveness using generative AI.
- Adaptability, Flexibility of working across different types of projects, Strong communications and sense of ownership and driver ship is required working across teams.

This is a hybrid position. Hybrid employees can alternate time between both remote and office. Employees in hybrid roles are expected to work from the office 2-3 set days a week (determined by leadership/site), with a general guidepost of being in the office 50% or more of the time based on business needs.
Qualifications
Basic Qualifications:
• 5+ years of relevant work experience with a Bachelor’s Degree or at least 2
years of work experience with an Advanced degree (e.g. Masters, MBA, JD,
MD) or 0 years of work experience with a PhD, OR 8+ years of relevant work
experience.
Preferred Qualifications:
• 6 or more years of work experience with a Bachelors Degree or 4 or more
years of relevant experience with an Advanced Degree (e.g. Masters, MBA, JD,
MD) or up to 3 years of relevant experience with a PhD
• Bachelor’s degree in computer science or software engineering or related field
with 5 years of Software Development Experience or a Master’s degree with 3
years of Software Development Experience.
• Proficiency in Java.
• Experience in tooling’s like Splunk, Opnet, AppDynamics, GC analysis tools,
Graphana and Linux command line tools.
• Experience with REST APIs, JSON, Angular and exposure to container-based
technologies.
• Experience with web service standards and related patterns (REST, gRPC).
• Experience developing large scale, enterprise class distributed system or
subsystems that require high availability, low latency, & strong data
consistency computing.
• Understanding and hands-on experience implementing microservices.
• Experience with Hadoop, Spark, REDIS, Kafka a plus.
• Experience with Jmeter, LoadRunner, Gatling and performance tools a plus.
• Expertise with Performance testing, test-driven development, sand security
testing.
• Experience working with cross-functional teams.
• Analytical, budgeting and planning experience.
Additional Information
Work Hours: Varies upon the needs of the department.
Travel Requirements: This position requires travel 5-10% of the time.
Mental/Physical Requirements: This position will be performed in an office setting. The position will require the incumbent to sit and stand at a desk, communicate in person and by telephone, frequently operate standard office equipment, such as telephones and computers.

U.S. APPLICANTS ONLY: The estimated salary range for a new hire into this position is 119,100.00 to 154,800.00 USD per year, which may include potential sales incentive payments (if applicable). Salary may vary depending on job-related factors which may include knowledge, skills, experience, and location. In addition, this position may be eligible for bonus and equity.
