Job Description

The Acceptance Solutions Product Development team are the engineers responsible for a portfolio of products that drive diversification of Visa revenue, differentiate our network, and deliver value-added solutions across other rails. This is part of a strategy to increase total merchant value by developing solutions that address complex and emerging needs of both merchants and acquirers. Our mission is to drive the future of payment acceptance, helping our clients navigate digital commerce complexities and address an increasing need for flexibility and agility. 

 

The goal of the Visa Acceptance Platform is to be the world’s most open payment platform by delivering market leading, globally relevant, omnichannel acceptance componentry through open, composable, modular APIs delivered with Visa-grade resilience, security, maintenance, and scale. 

 

Role Overview: As the Vice President for Acceptance Solutions Engineering 360, you will be a key leader in our product development organization chartered to infuse next generation thinking into engineering practices, anticipate and leverage emerging technologies for strategic advantage, drive innovation initiatives and research projects to maintain a cutting-edge technology ecosystem, and lead the development of autonomous systems, leverage artificial intelligence and machine learning to enhance operational efficiency and reliability.

 

The five critical areas of this role are:

  • Architecture Leadership
    • Provide visionary leadership in defining and implementing scalable and cloud native technology architectures.
    • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure alignment between business goals and technical solutions.

 

  • Site Reliability Engineering (SRE)
    • Drive a culture of reliability and resiliency across our technology stack.
    • Implement best practices in SRE to enhance system performance, availability, and incident response.

 

  • Continuous Integration & Release Optimization
    • Implement automation and continuous integration practices to streamline the release pipeline.
    • Oversee and optimize the release management process to ensure the timely and high-quality delivery of software products.

 

  • Portfolio Strategy & Operations
    • Develop and execute a strategic vision for the engineering portfolio in alignment with business objectives.
    • Optimize resource allocation and ensure operational efficiency across the engineering organization.

 

  • Portfolio Orchestration
    • Lead the orchestration of complex engineering portfolios, ensuring efficient execution and delivery.
    • Foster collaboration between product teams, architects, and engineers to drive successful outcomes.

 

This role will span all Acceptance Solutions product families, Payer Interface, Payment Processing, Post Purchase, ANET, and Visa Acceptance Platform reporting to the Senior Vice President, Product Development, Technology Acceptance Solutions. This is a highly visible role including direct engagement with Visa’s executive team.

 

Essential Functions:

  • Leading a multi-functional team of senior engineers, solution architects, and technical project managers to define technology architecture, technology strategy, and providing guidance to collaborators.
  • Leading agile product development teams working with clients (issuers, acquirers, processors, and service providers) to commercialize new or existing underutilized products to address broader use cases.
  • Providing technical vision and a roadmap, collaborating with product management and the regions, to align with corporate & technology strategy.
  • Providing technical thought leadership and management in building code that is secure and passes all Visa cyber security requirements and always-on architecture and uptime/availability more than 99.9999%.
  • Collaborating closely with Cybersecurity and Operations & Infrastructure to ensure a seamless model of coding, deployment, and operations of the code in production.
  • Working closely with cross functional stakeholders to develop multi-year strategic outlook plans, instrumental in defining solutions for large/sophisticated opportunities/challenges.
  • Supporting a globally distributed team of 250+ employees to enhance our global organizational model and our global workforce in NA, Europe, and Asia.
  • Maintaining operational and fiscal discipline by effectively handling the scope, schedule, and budget.

 

This is a hybrid position. Hybrid employees can alternate time between both remote and office. Employees in hybrid roles are expected to work from the office 2-3 set days a week (determined by leadership/site), with a general guidepost of being in the office 50% or more of the time based on business needs.

 

Qualifications

Basic Qualifications:

• 12 or more years of work experience with a Bachelor’s Degree or at least 10 years of experience with an Advanced degree (e.g. Masters/ MBA/JD/MD) or at least 8 years of work experience with a PhD

Preferred Qualifications:

• 15 or more years of experience with an Advanced Degree (e.g. Masters, MBA, JD, MD, PhD)
• Experience in coding, architecting and leading large globally distributed teams of technologists.
• Experience in design, architecture, and engineering of highly available, resilient, scalable systems, including cloud architectures.
• Experience in leading large, global software engineering technology teams of 250+ across multiple time zones and cultures.
• Demonstrated experience in change management concerning the adoption of modern & innovative technologies.
• A consistent track record in building enterprise transaction-based systems with a focus on security, reliability, scalability, performance, and modern CI/CD techniques.
• Experience working in Agile framework and matrixed organizations.
• Excellent knowledge of core engineering best practices and the ability to implement these across the team.
• Strong commercial acumen to forecast business trends and translate into agile technology acceptance solutions.
• Experience in crafting a collaborative and innovative work culture that encourages risk-taking and fosters excellence.
• An ability to combine analytical reasoning, creativity, and judgment in handling complex matters, with multiple initiatives going on simultaneously.
• An awareness and ability to do the right thing for employees, shareholders, and others (i.e., follow a balanced approach without compromising integrity)
• Demonstrated ability to recruit, grow, nurture, retain, and lead high-caliber technical talent.
• Deep Payments industry knowledge highly desired

Additional Information

Work Hours: Varies upon the needs of the department.

Travel Requirements: This position requires travel 5-10% of the time.

Mental/Physical Requirements: This position will be performed in an office setting.  The position will require the incumbent to sit and stand at a desk, communicate in person and by telephone, frequently operate standard office equipment, such as telephones and computers.

U.S. APPLICANTS ONLY: The estimated salary range for a new hire into this position is 206,200.00 to 283,500.00 USD per year, which may include potential sales incentive payments (if applicable). Salary may vary depending on job-related factors which may include knowledge, skills, experience, and location. In addition, this position may be eligible for bonus and equity.
