Job Description

The Merchant Sales & Solutions Co-brand Business Development team’s mission is to drive co-brand growth through a comprehensive approach to deliver both strategic solutions and tangible value to US and Canadian merchant partners across multiple industry verticals. The team is engaged across multiple functions within the Visa NA organization to bring the very best of Visa’s expertise and assets to our clients.

The team is part of the NA MSA team and Global Co-brand team within the Global Merchant Sales & Acquiring organization. Key components of the team’s responsibilities include:

  • Leading some largest and most complex deals at Visa, the co-brand team will own the overall development of key co-brand deals across abroad variety of clients. This includes helping partners develop their co-brand strategy and why co-brand is right for them, through to developing financial offers, and directly negotiating contracts directly with clients and everything in between.
  • Defining the US Co-brand Business Development (BD) strategy across retail, T&E, eCommerce and everyday spend merchant verticals along with helping develop new and emerging segment clients i.e Crypto, Gaming, FinTech
  • Managing pipeline development and the prioritization of key opportunities in the US including:
    • New deals
    • Competitive takeaways and conversions
    • Lighthouse partnerships
  • Leading a consistent and proactive approach to co-brand opportunities with multiple external partners merchant, issuer, fintech and consultant partners
  • Representing Visa externally in the co-brand market with consultants and prospective partners via relevant conferences (both as attendees and/or speakers)
  • Leading strategic initiatives that solve for key opportunities / challenges in the US co-brand landscape

Main Purpose of the function

  • To win and sign key co-brand deals across NA. This ranges from initial discussions with clients to help them understand why co-brand is right for them through to negotiating full commercial agreements.

Main interaction points (external and internal stakeholders)

  • Key issuing clients (e.g. chase, wells Fargo, Barclays, Goldman Sachs )
  • Key merchant/digital partners
  • All functional areas across Visa: FI AEs, Merchant AEs, product, marketing, VCA etc

What value it brings to Visa

  • Co-brand makes up 1/3 of Visa’s entire business and as such the deals worked by the team are some of the largest revenue generating deals Visa would sign

Role Overview

The intern will learn the full  co-brand business development process with multiple clients across various industry verticals  based on candidate learning desire.

Intended deliverable(s):

  • Full non financial pitch (product proposition, go to market strategy, Visa 360 value story)
  • Fully approved financial offer
  • Negotiated and signed contract

Who you  will engage with:

  • Cross functional partners in Visa (product, VCA, finance, AE’s etc)
  • Merchant/issuer/ fintech clients
  • Senior management

Global or NA-region focus:

  • NA focus but global possibility given team structure and client profile

Qualifications

Basic Qualifications 

  • Students pursuing a MBA Degree with a graduation date between December 2024 and August 2025; Strong communications skills, specifically, the absence of repeated grammatical or typographical errors, clear and concise written and spoken communications that demonstrate professional judgment.

Additional Information

Work Hours: Varies upon the needs of the department.

Travel Requirements: This position requires travel 5-10% of the time.

Mental/Physical Requirements: This position will be performed in an office setting.  The position will require the incumbent to sit and stand at a desk, communicate in person and by telephone, frequently operate standard office equipment, such as telephones and computers.

U.S. APPLICANTS ONLY: The estimated salary for a new hire into this position is $53/HR USD , which may include potential sales incentive payments (if applicable). Salary may vary depending on job-related factors which may include knowledge, skills, experience, and location. In addition, this position may be eligible for bonus and equity.
