Job Description

Visa is seeking a payments professional to join the US Merchant Travel Team as Vice President of Travel Merchant Sales & Partnership Management. This individual will be responsible for developing, executing and maintaining co-brand and acceptance sales strategies as well as partnership management strategies for several of Visa’s largest travel clients in the United States. This position will require thought leadership, vision and creativity to deepen partnerships with these large, complex travel merchants in an effort to increase Visa’s T&E acceptance and co-brand revenues, grow Visa usage and drive new payment solutions to address opportunity areas for incremental business.

 

The role will oversee a small team of employees dedicated to managing the team’s applicable assigned accounts. This role will report to the SVP of Travel – NA Merchant and will also work directly with key executives from functions across Visa such as FI sales, Specialized Sales, Global Co-brand Business Development, Innovation, Finance, Legal, Marketing, Acceptance Solutions, Payment Experience, Client Services, and the Product teams. Externally, this role will collaborate with senior executives at key merchants.

This Visa President position is a hybrid role that can be based in any U.S. Visa Office.

 

Essential Functions

  • Lead a team that will define and drive high-profile, cross functional strategies and plans for each assigned account that will be customer focused, achieve annual scorecard goals and meet contractual commitments
  • Develop and own assigned T&E sub-industry strategies and plans on behalf of the T&E Vertical, as well as sales pipeline, scorecard and team administrative responsibilities
  • Lead the planning, deployment, execution and administration of partner co-op and VIK funds
  • Lead the payment operational support via partnerships with Client Services and other applicable SMEs
  • Deepen sub-industry relationships and initiatives with applicable trade associations/partners
  • Support the GE Team with regulatory monitoring, risk mitigation and response readiness
  • Identify strong talent, hire, lead, motivate and retain a team of high performing sales executives
  • Collaborate with internal partners to identify and cultivate new merchant growth opportunities for assigned industries and accounts, as well as to cross sell current Visa products and services
  • Manage, grow and renew existing co-brand agreements, develop proposals, client pitches and then negotiate new business agreements to enhance existing relationships as well as to drive incremental Visa revenues from the assigned accounts
  • Collaborate with teams on Acceptance Solutions, Visa Consulting & Analytics, Product, Interchange, Compliance, FI Sales, Global Co-branding & Partnership Development and marketing to develop and implement account plans for assigned accounts
  • Monitor key business performance metrics and assigned account performance on an ongoing basis
  • Provide thought leadership, operational and technical support to the team, as well as to assigned accounts
  • Foster strong relationships at senior levels within the client organizations, as well as within the Visa organization
  • Be the voice for the large Travel accounts and their needs/pain points/opportunities to Visa all applicable Visa SMEs

Qualifications

Basic Qualifications:
• 12 or more years of work experience with a bachelor’s Degree or at least 10 years of experience with an Advanced degree (e.g. Masters/ MBA/JD/MD) or at least 8 years of work experience with a PhD

Preferred Qualifications:
• 15 or more years of experience with an Advanced Degree (e.g. Masters, MBA, JD, MD, PhD)

The ideal candidate will have a minimum of 15+ years of relevant experience, including sales and co-brand relationship management for large co-brand travel merchants. They should have a strong customer focus combined with an in-depth understanding of the trends influencing the T&E merchant world, as well as the applicable acceptance costs and co-brand economics.
This leader must have a proven track record in selling to and managing large clients/accounts, developing deep relationships, negotiating complex partnership deals that include a co-branded card program as a foundation, and possess knowledge of the emerging and mainstream T&E payment ecosystem, as well as the economics driving Visa’s performance in the T&E space.
This candidate must be an excellent collaborator and natural team player with superb influencing, communications and interpersonal skills. The successful candidate will be a thought leader who is both strategic, as well as tactical, who is extremely organized with strong attention to detail, yet able to work in a fluid, creative, and innovative environment.

This is a hybrid position. Hybrid employees can alternate time between both remote and office. Employees in hybrid roles are expected to work from the office 2-3 set days a week (determined by leadership/site), with a general guidepost of being in the office 50% or more of the time based on business needs.

Travel Requirements: This position requires travel 5-10% of the time.

U.S. APPLICANTS ONLY: The estimated salary range for a new hire into this position is 229,100.00 to 315,000.00 USD per year, which may include potential sales incentive payments (if applicable). Salary may vary depending on job-related factors which may include knowledge, skills, experience, and location. In addition, this position may be eligible for bonus and equity.
