Job Description

Role Purpose

The Europe Business Performance and Data Insights Manager is a key role in the development and operations of the newly formed Business Performance and Data Insights team in Europe. This team will provide a pivotal link between the Europe CEO Office, the 6 European clusters, commercial functions, the global BPO team and the Visa Leadership team.

The team plays an instrumental role in identifying, diagnosing, and where possible – predicting, performance issues, risks (incl. opportunities), providing actionable insights and partnering with the business as a trusted advisor to enable them to apply these to drive sustainable and transformative improvements in business performance.

The role reports into the Team Lead. The team is responsible for Performance Management, Business Analysis, Data Governance & Insights and providing support and leadership in target setting and overall best practices in delivering high quality, accurate reporting & actionable insights. The role holder will be an accountable business partner to the Functional and Cluster teams. He/ She must build strong relationships with their assigned teams and be comfortable in holding insightful discussions on business performance metrics, challenging them to go deeper in their business areas to build an aligned narrative that supports risks and opportunities. The role holder should bring their business analysis skills to bear to write impactful technical use cases to create a pipeline of work to automate or enhance existing tools in partnership with Technology.

This role requires a highly proactive individual with excellent data and business analysis skills. The ideal candidate will be highly numeric, with advanced knowledge of Excel and good working knowledge of BI tools such as Power BI, Tableau, or SQL, and an aspiration to specialize further in these tools. The role involves discussing data architecture with Tech teams, owning and maintaining the data dictionary for data governance at a senior level. The role holder should be comfortable communicating with business teams and translating business requirements into technical use cases. Experience in business and data analysis and data governance is required. The role holder should be able to build impactful narratives of key trends, highlighting business risks and opportunities, and driving continuous improvement in business performance. The candidate should be highly organized, a willing learner, and comfortable operating in a fast-paced environment with significant change. Adaptability and agility are key, as the role requires quickly responding to the needs of the CEO and the European business.

Responsibilities

Leadership (10%)

  • Drives annual target setting exercise in partnership with global and regional stakeholders.

  • Works in partnership with Team Lead in implementing and embedding the new CoE operating model, focusing on data ownership, standardized reporting, and insights.

  • Partner with BPO leaders in the commercial functions and clusters to roll out and drive smooth execution of the team

Performance Management (40%)

  • Responsible for the ongoing delivery and management of the monthly European and sub-region scorecards and European MI pack.

  • Partners with business stakeholders to enhance and optimise the Monthly Performance (MI) pack and associated Scorecard reporting for Europe to inform and facilitate decision making in critical business areas.

  • Acts like an owner of the key performance metrics within the scorecard and MI dashboards to identify and deliver actionable insights that significant improvements to business performance, continuously improving the quality of the insights based on feedback of their effectiveness to drive sustainable and transformative positive impacts to the business.

  • Focuses on identifying, validating, and presenting actionable insights on business performance within their vertical e.g., Cluster or Function, providing analysis at a range of different business perspectives (e.g., deep dive through to strategic insights).

  • Engages and partners as a trusted advisor with business stakeholders at all levels of the organization to identify, validate and deliver performance insights as part of the monthly reporting process and to facilitate critical business meetings.

  • Demonstrates a clear understanding of what drives business performance, and the levers (and effectiveness of those levers) that can be employed to drive improvements in performance.

  • Provides support and leads moderately complex projects relating to performance management and business analysis under the supervision of the Team Lead.

  • Identifies cross business trends and applies to them their scope of responsibility.

  • Reviews performance management work products for other Analysts and colleagues in the team including existing and newly identified performance metrics e.g., Objectives and Key Results (OKRs).

  • Applies learnings from past performance to identify potential future trends to inform performance management decision-making by the business.

  • Identifies and provides support to implement continuous improvement opportunities in the quality and efficiency of service delivery e.g., automation, applying Visa and industry standard best practices for data and performance management to drive efficiencies in the scorecard planning process and embed within the wider Europe businesses.

Business Analysis (30%)

  • Obsesses about our customers, proactively and continually asking probing questions to understand our customer needs to enable them to achieve their goals in driving uplifts in business performance.

  • Adopts a curious and solution-oriented approach by showing active listening skills and asking probing questions to understand and diagnose root causes of performance risks, issues, and scenarios, and focuses on producing, validating, and prioritizing high quality actionable insights that the business can apply.

  • Understands key business performance drivers to support the Europe CEO Office and its stakeholders through data driven storytelling to link performance with strategic goals.

  • Provides insightful analysis on current trends and Visa Europe’s achievements to support strategic communications for Europe CEO.

  • Performs ad hoc deep dive / bespoke analysis, e.g., scenario analysis as required.

  • Provides insightful commentary on operational and strategic risks & opportunities.

Data Governance & Insights (10%)

  • Supports roll-out and future enhancement of global and European performance solutions (“the TRUTH”, Executive dashboard).

  • Collaborates with DSL, IT, and regional business owners in rolling out new performance solutions in the European region.

  • Performs data analysis as needed to identify root causes of trends and recommends corrective actions.

  • Ensures data is managed in compliance with relevant regulations and European policies – including GDPR and records management.

  • Owns the data dictionary, data access protocol and governance for any information related to the corporate scorecard or MI pack, in line with the Visa Data Values and supports the creation of a culture of data excellence in Visa.

  • Partners with stakeholders to ensure that they understand their responsibilities concerning data contribution and data access.

Governance (10%)

  • Provides support to manage the key inputs, sessions, and outputs from key Executive Leadership governance forums e.g., the Quarterly Business Review (QBR).

Qualifications

• Minimum of bachelor’s degree or equivalent in one of the following: STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Mathematics), Statistics, Finance, Economics, Business, or other quantitative fields.
• Exceptional analytical skill and attention to detail, with advanced experience managing and manipulating complex datasets in Excel, Tableau, PowerBI, etc.
• Qualified in one of the following: Statistics, Finance, Economics, Business, Computer Science, Engineering, or other quantitative fields (including the Sciences).
• Strong personal presence and stakeholder management skills.
• Experience in payments or financial services or, ideally with some combination of strategy, commercial, operations and finance experience is highly desirable.

Basic Qualifications and Preferred Experience

Minimum of bachelor’s degree or equivalent in one of the following: STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Mathematics), Statistics, Finance, Economics, Business, or other quantitative fields.
Exceptional analytical skill and attention to detail, with advanced experience managing and manipulating complex datasets in Excel, Tableau, PowerBI, etc.
Qualified in one of the following: Statistics, Finance, Economics, Business, Computer Science, Engineering, or other quantitative fields (including the Sciences).
Ability to communicate complex ideas and analyses effectively—verbally, visually, and in writing to stakeholders at all levels.
Strong personal presence and stakeholder management skills.
Ability to solve problems and support a range of stakeholders, often in parallel and within a shifting set of priorities.
3-6 years of experience in payments or financial services or, ideally with some combination of strategy, commercial, operations and finance experience is highly desirable.
