Job Description

Visa Cloud Platform team is responsible for building frameworks and systems to automate infrastructure provisioning and application deployment tools that Visa developers will use to deploy and run their code. Our mission is to make the process seamless for developers to get their code to customers. We are testing and automating the platform to deploy, monitor, scale and debug applications. We are looking for a talented Staff SW Test Engineer to join our team!


​In this role you will play a critical part in designing and implementing test solutions across all testing phases, establishing, and following quality standards to deliver high quality releases. It’s an opportunity to learn, lead and work on new technologies.

Responsibilities – what you’ll do:

  • Perform tool evaluation and develop / maintain automation framework for performance testing and monitoring.
  • Assess non-functional requirements and create detailed performance test strategy.
  • Drive performance test design and testability across multiple teams and onboard them.
  • Monitor and analyze application performance metrics to identify UI responsiveness, performance bottlenecks, scalability issues and other performance related problems.
  • Foster business partnerships, develop trust with partners and stakeholders, understand business needs particularly within the context of Visa's core business, and seek to enable their business success.
  • Effectively analyze the trends compared to baseline and communicate performance metrics to stakeholders.
  • Diagnose and solve complex performance problems and provide detailed technical analysis and tuning recommendations.
  • Identify preventative measures from the root cause analysis and suggest mitigation options for project risks.
  • Review and evaluate quality improvement recommendations for efficiency gains.

This is a hybrid position. Hybrid employees can alternate time between both remote and office. Employees in hybrid roles are expected to work from the office 2-3 set days a week (determined by leadership/site), with a general guidepost of being in the office 50% or more of the time based on business needs.

Qualifications

Basic Qualifications:
• 5+ years of relevant work experience with a Bachelor’s Degree or at least 2 years of work experience with an Advanced degree (e.g. Masters, MBA, JD, MD) or 0 years of work experience with a PhD, OR 8+ years of relevant work experience.
• Strong experience in performance test lifecycle activities: script development, test execution, results analysis.
• Hands on experience in performance test planning and execution based on business scenarios.
• Strong communication with ability to collaborate with global teams.
• Ability to evaluate automation tools and onboard them based on viability.
• Ability to identify and analyze latency, memory, and CPU utilization.

Preferred Qualifications:
• 6 or more years of work experience with a Bachelors Degree or 4 or more years of relevant experience with an Advanced Degree (e.g. Masters, MBA, JD, MD) or up to 3 years of relevant experience with a PhD
• Hands-on experience with test frameworks such as Jmeter, Ready API, Gatling, APM tools including New Relic or AppDynamics or Dynatrace etc.
• Experience with testing Kubernetes and containers.
• Working experience with Mongo DB, MySQL
• Working experience with CI/CD pipelines, virtualization.
• Experienced in HTML, CSS, JavaScript (Jquery, Angular JS/Backbone, etc.).
• Solid foundation in object-oriented methodologies & design patterns.
• Good knowledge of SQL and DB concepts (MYSQL preferred).
• Ability to excel in a dynamic work environment with multiple projects, priorities, and schedules to manage.
• Ability to understand complex enterprise level system, various integration points and software development lifecycle.
• Mentor colleagues and new team members through knowledge transfers and brown bags.
• Identify opportunities for future enhancements and refinements to standards, best practices, and development methodologies.
• Learn new tools/technologies quickly and implement it to solve the problem at hand.

Additional Information

Work Hours: Varies upon the needs of the department.

Travel Requirements: This position requires travel 5-10% of the time.

Mental/Physical Requirements: This position will be performed in an office setting.  The position will require the incumbent to sit and stand at a desk, communicate in person and by telephone, frequently operate standard office equipment, such as telephones and computers.

U.S. APPLICANTS ONLY: The estimated salary range for a new hire into this position is 106,600.00 to 138,600.00 USD, which may include potential sales incentive payments (if applicable). Salary may vary depending on job-related factors which may include knowledge, skills, experience, and location. In addition, this position may be eligible for bonus and equity.
