Job Description

Operations & Infrastructure: Operations & Infrastructure builds, operates and maintains best-in-class IT infrastructure services that are secure, scalable, and continuously available.

We are seeking a Systems Engineer, New College Grad for the Infrastructure Reliability Engineering Team. You will support critical applications and ensure the stability of services by performing dedicated maintenance activities. You engage in automation activities, perform root cause analysis (RCA), and remediation. Lastly, you will support incident/change/problem management, call triaging, and critical issue resolution procedures. 

Some job duties and projects could include:

  • Infrastructure Operations and Production Support of container technologies and orchestration platforms.
  • Docker/Kubernetes deployment, configuration, scaling, and management of containerized applications.
  • Hardening, securing the Kubernetes cluster with monitoring and auditing dashboards.
  • Scripting and automation skills converting manual and maintenance functions into fully orchestrated automation.
  • System monitoring using available tools.
  • Willing to work in complex, highly secure, and highly available, operations environments and interact with the technology domain experts required to maintain those environments.
  • Responsible for partnering with the Platform, Engineering and Delivery Teams to deliver seamless infrastructure support for all Visa business lines.
  • Security Remediation process (vulnerability assessment and patch management).
  • Contribute to standardize and document operational procedures.
  • Responsible for adherence of established ITIL (The Information Technology Infrastructure Library) practice such as Incident, Change, Problem and Release Management.

Qualifications

Basic Qualifications:

  • Less than 2 years relevant work experience with either Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, CIS/MIS, Cybersecurity, Business or a related field, graduating December 2023 - August 2024
  • Strong communications skills, specifically, the absence of repeated grammatical or typographical errors, clear and concise written and spoken communications, and communications that demonstrate professional judgment.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Proficiency in at least one programming language or configuration tools including, but not limited, to Python, Ansible, Terraform, and YAML packages
  • Solid understanding of Linux Systems Administration
  • Basic understanding of Kubernetes architecture
  • Basic knowledge with CI/CD or GitOps pipeline Architecture such as ArgoCD, Code Fresh, or Jenkins
  • Knowledge in infrastructure technologies such as HP and DELL hardware (Rack servers)
  • Working knowledge of monitoring and logging tools: Prometheus, Graphana, Fluentbit, Netcool, Humio
  • Understanding of networking concepts

Additional Information

U.S. APPLICANTS ONLY: The estimated salary for a new hire into this position is $83,000 USD  which may include potential sales incentive payments (if applicable).  Salary may vary depending on job-related factors which may include knowledge, skills, experience, and location. In addition, this position may be eligible for bonus and equity.  Visa has a comprehensive benefits package for which this position may be eligible that includes Medical, Dental, Vision, 401 (k), FSA/HSA, Life Insurance, Paid Time Off, and Wellness Program.

Work Hours: On-Call to support the infrastructure and our systems. Work on shift days (Sunday to Thursday or Tuesday to Saturday from 9:00AM to 6:00PM local time)

Travel Requirements: This position requires travel 5-10% of the time.

Mental/Physical Requirements: This position will be performed in an office setting.  The position will require the incumbent to sit and stand at a desk, communicate in person and by telephone, frequently operate standard office equipment, such as telephones and computers.
