Job Description

The Strategy Manager, Visa Cross-Border Solutions (VXBS) North America is responsible for defining and operationalizing the near- to medium-term strategy for VXBS (including Currencycloud) in North America, as well as supporting the VXBS Strategy team in defining the longer-term business strategy. The Strategy Manager will collaborate across the VXBS, Commercial and Money Movement Solutions (CMS), and Visa North America organizations to drive alignment on strategic priorities, identify and assess new growth opportunities, and support strategic planning activity. This role reports into the Global Strategy Director, Visa Cross-Border Solutions.

Essential Functions:

  • Develop the medium- to long-term (2-5 year) strategy for VXBS in North America, including the definition of target markets, customer segmentation, value proposition, differentiation, investment prioritization, and investment plans

  • Collaborate with cross-functional stakeholders across VXBS (incl. but not limited to the VXBS North America GTM leadership team and the VXBS Product organizations) to ensure alignment on the strategy and business priorities

  • Support the Global Strategy Director in engaging with the Strategy & Business Operations leads for the North America regional and CMS organizations, as well as counterparts from other Visa business units (incl. but not limited to VCS, Visa Direct, MS&A, Tink), to identify collaboration opportunities, validate hypotheses, and ensure alignment on the strategy and business priorities

  • Develop insights on customer needs, key industry trends, market dynamics, and the competitive landscape to inform regional strategic priorities, proposition development, market positioning, and go-to-market approach

  • Identify, assess, and prioritize growth opportunities for VXBS in North America (incl. geographic markets, customer segments, use cases)

  • Develop rigorous, fact-based, quantitative analyses to support recommendations on growth opportunities and investment priorities for VXBS in North America and support the Global Strategy Director in aligning these recommendations with stakeholders within VXBS and the Visa North America organization more broadly

  • Support the development of the Multi-Year Strategic Outlook and Annual Operating Plan for VXBS in North America, including forecasts, implementation plans, and escalations to address risks/dependencies/systemic blockers

  • Support the General Manager, VXBS North America and the Global Strategy Director, VXBS in engaging senior stakeholders across the wider North America organization (e.g. QBRs, regional strategic initiatives)

This is a hybrid position. Hybrid employees can alternate time between both remote and office. Employees in hybrid roles are expected to work from the office 2-3 set days a week (determined by leadership/site), with a general guidepost of being in the office 50% or more of the time based on business needs.

Qualifications

Basic Qualifications:
• 8 years of relevant work experience with a Bachelor Degree or 5 or more years of experience with an Advanced Degree (e.g. Masters, MBA, JD, MD) or 2 years of work experience with a PhD
Preferred Qualifications:
• 9 or more years of relevant work experience with a Bachelor Degree or at least 5 years of experience with an Advanced Degree (e.g. Masters, MBA, JD, MD) or 2 years of work experience with a PhD
• Previous experience in a strategic role, ideally in payments and/or financial services
• Proven experience developing strategy and communicating it to senior stakeholders
• Demonstrated autonomy and ownership of outcomes in strategic projects
• Proven track record of collaborating with peers cross-functionally to develop and execute on strategies
• Demonstrated ability to break down and address complex business problems, typically with cross-functional impact and involving multiple stakeholders
• Robust understanding of the fintech / payments industry. Experience in payments preferred, but not required

Additional Information

Work Hours: Varies upon the needs of the department.

Travel Requirements: This position requires travel 5-10% of the time.

Mental/Physical Requirements: This position will be performed in an office setting.  The position will require the incumbent to sit and stand at a desk, communicate in person and by telephone, frequently operate standard office equipment, such as telephones and computers.

U.S. APPLICANTS ONLY: The estimated salary range for a new hire into this position is 153,900 to 200,000 USD, which may include potential sales incentive payments (if applicable). Salary may vary depending on job-related factors which may include knowledge, skills, experience, and location. In addition, this position may be eligible for bonus and equity.
