Job Description

Within Technology, the Operations & Infrastructure division provides outstanding infrastructure services that are secure, scalable, and continuously available. We architect, build, and maintain secure and reliable systems and networks to support the business functionality that Visa provides to payment industry partners.

As Site Reliability Engineers on the Product Reliability Engineering (PRE) Tech team, we’re passionate about providing an excellent developer experience that improves the efficiency and productivity of our engineers. We build and run tools and systems that Visa's engineers use every day to iterate, test, and deploy their code.

We are looking for an individual who can appreciate and understand software at a multidisciplinary level and can use this knowledge to help craft our technical direction, from distributed computing, large-scale system design, artificial intelligence, UI design and mobile, and more.

Some job duties and projects could include:

  • Supervising real-time Visa services and systems to resolve incidents that occur. You'll partner with multi-functional co-located teams in design and development to improve environment monitoring and resiliency capabilities
  • Programming a feature or feature set that will enhance our availability and security; writing sophisticated and detailed requirements for future implementations and automation requirements in the environment
  • You will work closely with team to investigate and communicate the root cause of any severe incidents and identify corrective actions
  • Support critical applications and process improvements support process improvements to ensure the stability of the applications while working with other business departments to align activities and work
  • Develop solid understanding of production support processes such as incident/change/problem management, call triaging, critical issue procedures while meeting strict OLA and SLA commitments
  • Be a technical authority to drive issue bridges, provide fixes, and follow the production standard processes
  • Lead and conduct impact assessment and mitigation plan for changes going into the production environment and ensure the success rate of planned changes

Qualifications

Basic Qualifications  

  • Less than 2 years relevant work experience with either a Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, CIS/MIS, Cybersecurity, Business or a related field, graduating December 2023 - August 2024 

Preferred Qualifications 

  • Proficiency in at least one programming language or technology including, but not limited to, Python, Java, JavaScript, HTML, C++ , UI development, network protocols, algorithms, web services and SQL skills
  • Experience with CI/CD tooling and MS Office suite of tools
  • Familiarity with software testing principles 
  • Solid understanding of software engineering concepts and methodologies 
  • Document process, designs, test results, and analysis 
  • Lead root cause analysis and track defect resolution to completion 
  • Review and provide feedback on development code, test designs and test cases 
  • Communicate status frequently to project stakeholders 
  • Availability to support weekend on-call on a rotational schedule
  • Strong communications skills, specifically, the absence of repeated grammatical or typographical errors, clear and concise written and spoken communications, and communications that demonstrate professional judgment
  • The ability to take on challenges and address problems head-on 
  • Strong ability to collaborate

U.S. APPLICANTS ONLY: The estimated salary  for a new hire into this position is $88,000 USD, which may include potential sales incentive payments (if applicable).  Salary may vary depending on job-related factors which may include knowledge, skills, experience, and location. In addition, this position may be eligible for bonus and equity.  Visa has a comprehensive benefits package for which this position may be eligible that includes Medical, Dental, Vision, 401 (k), FSA/HSA, Life Insurance, Paid Time Off, and Wellness Program. 

Work Hours: Varies upon the needs of the department.

Travel Requirements: This position requires travel 5-10% of the time.

Mental/Physical Requirements: This position will be performed in an office setting.  The position will require the incumbent to sit and stand at a desk, communicate in person and by telephone, frequently operate standard office equipment, such as telephones and computers.
