Job Description

What a Head of Commercial Practice VCA, North America does at Visa:

Create a deep understanding of client needs, market conditions, and industry trends and align to consulting offerings that are commercially viable, in strong partnership with our VCA segment leads and account executive partners

Develop commercial industry insights and best practices to enhance consulting practice knowledge base and deliver expertise to clients

Industrialize VCA offerings in the commercial space and enhance VCA’s role as a key enabler for broader VAS sales by driving collaboration with other Visa functions

Lead and support key high-profile commercial advisory engagements across the region

Accountable for meeting key metrics such as revenue growth, billability and client satisfaction

Play an active role in attracting new and specialized talent into VCA, and lead initiatives to drive talent upskilling and development

Partner with Sales to help Visa win RFPs in the commercial space

Produce insights, analyses, and recommendations to expand VCA reach beyond payments and data. Elevate VCA Brand and reputation.

Ability to effectively manipulate and analyze large data sets (industry and Visa) to determine meanings insights and recommendations for clients

Ability to work on a matrix organization an collaborate across teams such as products, specialized sales, practices, marketing, innovation, among others.

Reporting to the Head of Practices for Visa Consulting and Analytics (VCA), North America, this role will be responsible for accelerating growth of the commercial payments practice.  They will be incubating new commercial approaches across our issuers and driving the adoption of data-driven solutions across North America. The position will be accountable for driving revenue growth from our commercial payments practice and will lead a small team of management consultants in the commercial payments space 

In addition, the role will be responsible for the strategy and delivery of key commercial engagements in close collaboration with other VCA senior leaders across North America and will collaborate closely with the heads of our National Issuing and Regional Issuing Practices.  They will also work closely with global counterparts across our commercial payments practice to lead key initiatives and export best practices across markets.

The role will interface with senior leaders and requires deep expertise in small business and commercial payments.  It will be based in one of our North American offices.

 

This is a hybrid position. Hybrid employees can alternate time between both remote and office. Employees in hybrid roles are expected to work from the office 2-3 set days a week (determined by leadership/site), with a general guidepost of being in the office 50% or more of the time based on business needs.

Qualifications

Basic Qualifications
12 or more years of work experience with a Bachelor’s Degree or at least 10 years of work experience with an Advanced degree (e.g. Masters/MBA /JD/MD), or a minimum of 5 years of work experience with a PhD
12 years of leadership experience, across management consulting and commercial payments
Experience leading projects in the commercial payments space in North America. Strong preference for someone with deep experience in small business card solutions or midsize commercial payments experience
Strong knowledge of payments industry landscape and consumer trends
Understanding of retail banking strategies, economics, and operations
Exceptional ability to conceptualize ideas into concrete commercial offerings
Superior analytical, critical thinking and problem-solving skills, strong intellectual rigor
Excellent written and verbal communications skills proven in senior-level corporate environments
Strong commercial acumen

Preferred Qualifications
15 or more years of experience with a Bachelor’s Degree or 12 years of experience with an Advanced Degree (e.g. Masters, MBA, JD, or MD), PhD with 9+ years of experience
Minimum of 15 years of progressively more responsible business experience in management consulting focused on the business payments/commercial payments space and/or payment businesses
Payments and Consulting experience
Excellent communication, storytelling and presentation skills

Additional Information

Work Hours: Varies upon the needs of the department.

Travel Requirements: This position requires travel 5-10% of the time.

Mental/Physical Requirements: This position will be performed in an office setting.  The position will require the incumbent to sit and stand at a desk, communicate in person and by telephone, frequently operate standard office equipment, such as telephones and computers.

U.S. APPLICANTS ONLY: The estimated salary range for a new hire into this position is 181,800.00 to 250,000.00 USD, which may include potential sales incentive payments (if applicable). Salary may vary depending on job-related factors which may include knowledge, skills, experience, and location. In addition, this position may be eligible for bonus and equity.
