Job Description
This role supports the wide range of communication, with specific responsibility for media relations, communication with social channels for stakeholder engagement and to drive positive conversations, and create external speaking opportunities, to enhance our corporate reputation, support business objectives and drive growth in Japan.
You will manage the communication needs of the relevant functional teams and oversee communication campaigns that reflect these areas’ increased importance to Visa’s long-term growth strategy. You will consult with and counsel cross-functional teams to support the delivery of business objectives and drive end-to-end campaign delivery, which can include internal communication plans, content development and working with media and/or agency to drive messaging to market.
It is vital for the applicant to demonstrate knowledge and capability in helping engage our stakeholders including consumers and business partners and reinforce Visa’s vision for the future of commerce as it relates to our long-term commitment to uplift economies. In addition to delivering high-quality communication programs, you will act as a trusted advisor to Visa’s leadership team helping them talk about their business objectives in a way that has a meaningful impact in the communities in which we operate. You will also play a key role in ensuring the company’s public and client-facing messages are communicated with a whole-of-Visa perspective, working closely with the business functions including Government Engagement and Legal to make sure all content, from press releases to speeches, is consistent and aligned.
This is a hybrid position. Hybrid employees can alternate time between both remote and office. Employees in hybrid roles are expected to work from the office 2-3 set days a week (determined by leadership/site), with a general guidepost of being in the office 50% or more of the time based on business needs.
Qualifications
What you will need
- 8+ years of experience in communication, ideally with in-house and/or agency background
- A relevant university degree
- Deep knowledge of social and digital communication channels, social media engagement and amplification
- Knowledge and experience in managing projects end-to-end
- A proven track record leading communication programs and acting as a trusted advisor to senior executives.
- Excellent verbal communication, including interpersonal and presentation skills
- Exceptional writing and editing skills that you can adapt for different formats and audiences both in Japanese and English
- Good attention to detail
- Ability to think strategically about how campaigns will resonate with different audiences
- A strong interest and/or experience in adapting communication strategies and messaging with an acute understanding of how the media operates
- Creative, curious, solution-oriented problem solving, proactive and high-energy individual with an ability to execute and self-start
- Passionate about the technology, payment industries
