Job Description

Visa’s Cyber Analytics & AI Innovation team designs, builds, and deploys next-generation security technologies to maintain trust in the Visa brand, ensure the safety, soundness, and integrity of the Visa payment system, and prevent operational losses to Visa and its clients.  We are seeking a Senior Software Engineer to join our product development team, working out of Visa's East Coast Technology Center at Ashburn, VA.

 

This Senior Software Engineer will be responsible for designing and building new analytics solutions that utilizes AI capabilities to drive new innovations in a wide range of areas in cybersecurity, from behavioral biometrics to generative AI. 

 

This role involves building innovative solutions and collaborating with engineering and product partners across the global Visa organization that help secure Visa against a variety of threats and attacks.  You will be working with a team of creative and hardworking engineers to innovate and build awesome security products to tackle existing and new emerging threats in the cyberworld.  Previous working experience in cybersecurity is NOT required.

 

Essential Functions

  • You should be an engineer at heart, possessing software engineering skills besides basic data science knowledge, as well as generic interest and enthusiasm in building the most critical and marquee products in the entire company.

  • You will build and engineer new capabilities into our product that’s protecting billions of transactions.

  • You will take ownership on various product modules, continuously enhancing it to combat threats in the secure authentication and perimeter defense space.

  • You will be using your core competencies around software engineering and help drive your teams build a product that work at scale, harnessing Terabytes of data while.

This is a hybrid position. Hybrid employees can alternate time between both remote and office. Employees in hybrid roles are expected to work from the office 2-3 set days a week (determined by leadership/site), with a general guidepost of being in the office 50% or more of the time based on business needs..

Qualifications

Basic Qualifications
• 2+ years of relevant work experience and a Bachelors degree, OR 5+ years of relevant work experience.
• Masters graduates must have 2+ years of relevant work experience to qualify at the Analyst level.

Preferred Qualifications
• 3 or more years of work experience with a Bachelor’s Degree or more than 2 years of work experience with an Advanced Degree (e.g. Masters, MBA, JD, MD)
• Software Engineering background: The candidate must possess strong software engineering skills and has completed projects (academic or professional) with at least 1000+ lines of in functional or object-oriented programming languages like Golang, Java, C++, or Rust. The candidate should be comfortable with cross-language development.
• Hands-on experience with web application & API development
• Working experience with Golang is highly desirable
• Working experience of Docker and/or Kubernetes
• Familiar with JavaScript and common frameworks like node.js.
• Familiar with the services and environments on AWS and/or Azure.
• Experience with NoSQL technologies (e.g., Cassandra, ELK) and caching technologies like Redis is a plus
• Data analytical skills with Kibana, Splunk, or Jupyter Notebook is a plus

Additional Information

Work Hours: Varies upon the needs of the department.

Travel Requirements: This position requires travel 5-10% of the time.

Mental/Physical Requirements: This position will be performed in an office setting.  The position will require the incumbent to sit and stand at a desk, communicate in person and by telephone, frequently operate standard office equipment, such as telephones and computers.

U.S. APPLICANTS ONLY: The estimated salary range for a new hire into this position is 100,200.00 to 127,800.00 USD, which may include potential sales incentive payments (if applicable). Salary may vary depending on job-related factors which may include knowledge, skills, experience, and location. In addition, this position may be eligible for bonus and equity.
