The Staff Designer will join a dynamic team of design and product experts with the purpose of helping to grow our clients’ business and internal product development, through a consultative approach to digital experience design. This individual is a strategic, full-stack user experience designer with hands-on human centered design thinking, UX/UI, research, service design, prototyping, facilitation, and strong client-facing skills. With the guidance of our Design and Innovation leadership team, the designer will deliver polished UX/UI artifacts and human-centric digital design expertise for our clients, as well as support RFPs and special projects. This role will also support the creation of product and design collaboration frameworks, co-creation sessions, asset libraries, and design operations management that will ultimately power the work of our practice. 
 
The Staff Designer should have industry leading design knowledge, design strategy and research experience, and a fluency to ‘speak’ product development and design thinking. This designer will need to develop a nuanced understanding of emerging digital payment trends as well as Visa’s capabilities and services to effectively leverage the right products and services at the right time in the solutions we design.  
 
Responsibilities: 
 

·       Lead the planning and execution of high-quality client immersions, design sprints, and co-creation engagements (through all phases of design) under the guidance of Design and/or Innovation Leads 

·       Maintain the highest standards of experience design delivery from wireframes to prototypes, extending that polish and strategic thinking to creating extensible and scalable co-creation tools and assets for our practice 

·       Support the planning and execution of hands-on research activities (qualitative and quantitative) to gain customer insights in order to fuel our co-creation process 

·       Deeply understand the payment ecosystem, commerce trends, our Innovation practice, as well as Visa products, services, and capabilities in order to effectively design for our clients and partners 

·       Work with our cross-functional product and business teams to ensure alignment and project success 

·       Strong hands-on designer with fluency across design specializations and deep dive expertise in one or more of the following areas: prototyping, research, UI, front end development, facilitation, design strategy, product management 

·       Support design operations needs as required including but not limited to RFPs, vendor relationships, design briefs, global design initiatives, etc. 

·       Be proactive in advocating for design research and user needs through delivering engaging and actionable insights

·       Ability to justify research and design decisions based on a thorough understanding of contemporary user-centered design methodologies, and quickly propose possible solutions to UX issues

·       Excellent verbal and written communication skills, problem solving skills, and empathic interpersonal skills

 

This is a hybrid position. Hybrid employees can alternate time between both remote and office. Employees in hybrid roles are expected to work from the office 2-3 set days a week (determined by leadership/site), with a general guidepost of being in the office 50% or more of the time based on business needs.

Qualifications

Basic Qualifications:
• 5 or more years of relevant work experience with a Bachelors Degree or at least 2 years of work experience with an Advanced degree (e.g. Masters, MBA, JD, MD) or 0 years of work experience with a PhD
• Preferably working in consultancies, digital product, or established startups
• Bilingual, English and Spanish (verbal and written)

Preferred Qualifications:
• 6 or more years of work experience with a Bachelors Degree or 4 or more years of relevant experience with an Advanced Degree (e.g. Masters, MBA, JD, MD) or up to 3 years of relevant experience with a PhD – preferably working in consultancies, digital product, or established startups
• 4+ years working as a product or digital designer as part of an in-house, agency, or cross-functional design or innovation team
• Experience and proven track record running client engagements, demonstrating excellence in presentation polish, and strong client orientation
• Experience in creating user experience maps, service blueprints, wireframes, polished user interface design, rapid prototyping, and presentations that communicate the strategy
• Strong fluency in digital design software such as Figma, Adobe Creative Suite, Sketch, InVision, Mural, proficiency in HTML/JS/CSS a plus
• Knowledgeable in human centered design thinking, service design, and user research 
• Strong organizational skills and attention to detail with the ability to prioritize and manage multiple projects
• Payment industry experience preferred

Additional Information

Work Hours: Varies upon the needs of the department.

Travel Requirements: This position requires travel 5-10% of the time.

Mental/Physical Requirements: This position will be performed in an office setting.  The position will require the incumbent to sit and stand at a desk, communicate in person and by telephone, frequently operate standard office equipment, such as telephones and computers.

U.S. APPLICANTS ONLY: The estimated salary range for a new hire into this position is 100,700.00 to 130,900.00 USD, which may include potential sales incentive payments (if applicable). Salary may vary depending on job-related factors which may include knowledge, skills, experience, and location. In addition, this position may be eligible for bonus and equity.
