Platform Products Technology (PPT) team is building a new generation of products to facilitate commerce in everyone's digital and mobile lives. Our focus is to build intuitive features that expose profound new value for our customers, merchants and developers.

As a Staff Software Engineer within PPT you will form an integral role in the development, test, and deployment of complex solutions that process millions of transactions per day worldwide. We are looking for experienced stars who understand the challenges in the development and test cycles and are passionate about solving some of these challenges systematically and efficiently.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Understand system design and architecture of various software applications.

  • Play a part in supporting multiple projects which deals with real-time transactional services, REST services API, container based microservices to highly functional, secure, scalable and resilient real time and batching systems. 

  • Conduct technical analysis and code reviews. Implement, and produce technical documentation of solutions for system enhancements, product gaps and production support.

  •  Provide recommendations for modifications and corrections to existing software, including the development of debugging routines.

  • Provides mentorship and guidance to more junior team members. 

  • Participate in cross-functional teams and work with architects, systems analysts, project managers, QA and other developers to implement business requirements while applying the latest available tools and technology.

  • Work under direct supervision to ensure on-time delivery of production tasks, production support plans, and knowledge transfer for long-term supportability of upgrades, enhancements, and deployments.

  • We need our engineers to be versatile, display ownership qualities and be enthusiastic to take on new problems across the full-stack as we continue to push technology forward.

This is a hybrid position. Hybrid employees can alternate time between both remote and office. Employees in hybrid roles are expected to work from the office 2-3 set days a week (determined by leadership/site), with a general guidepost of being in the office 50% or more of the time based on business needs.

Qualifications

Basic Qualifications:
• 5+ years of relevant work experience with a Bachelor’s Degree or at least 2 years of work experience with an Advanced degree (e.g. Masters, MBA, JD, MD) or 0 years of work experience with a PhD, OR 8+ years of relevant work experience.

Preferred Qualifications:
• 6 or more years of work experience with a Bachelors Degree or 4 or more years of relevant experience with an Advanced Degree (e.g. Masters, MBA, JD, MD) or up to 3 years of relevant experience with a PhD
• Following Agile Methodology and participating in Analysis, Coding, Designing and Unit Testing phase of projects.
• Provide architectural and practical guidance to software development to improve resiliency, efficiency, performance, and costs.
• Experience in ELK, Grafana and Splunk for monitoring application specific logs, visualize metrics, create dashboard, and alerts.
• Working under various systems including either Unix, Linux, Ubuntu, or Windows.
• Knowledgeable about Database technologies like Oracle, MYSQL, NOSQL Solutions.
• Design, development, and deployment of multi-tiered web-based enterprise applications using Java, J2EE technologies including either Hibernate, Spring, JDBC, JNDI, IBM MQ Series, or Web services (SOAP, REST)
• Caching Technologies like Elastic cache, CDN/Edge Servers
• Supporting web and mobile applications, infrastructure management, automate production efficiency using build tools including either Jenkins, Git, Ant, or Maven.
• Production support activities and knowledge in Troubleshooting problems in a cross-functional environment, problem management, Bug Fixing, handling incidents.
• Familiarity with microservices architecture and container orchestration with Kubernetes and any cloud platform (AWS/GCP/Azure).
• Understanding of Mobile SDK languages is a plus

Additional Information

Work Hours: Varies upon the needs of the department.

Travel Requirements: This position requires travel 5-10% of the time.

Mental/Physical Requirements: This position will be performed in an office setting.  The position will require the incumbent to sit and stand at a desk, communicate in person and by telephone, frequently operate standard office equipment, such as telephones and computers.

U.S. APPLICANTS ONLY: The estimated salary range for a new hire into this position is 117,700.00 to 153,000.00 USD, which may include potential sales incentive payments (if applicable). Salary may vary depending on job-related factors which may include knowledge, skills, experience, and location. In addition, this position may be eligible for bonus and equity.
