Job Description
Visa’s Data Policy and Governance Team (DP&G) creates and implements foundational data management and governance policies, standards and processes. Visa’s brand is built on trust. The Senior Manager, Data Lifecycle Partner, is responsible for the successful integration of our Policy and Frameworks into Visa’s Product and Payment Services Business Units. This individual must be able to effectively identify, assess and communicate areas of strength and opportunity in order to continually strengthen our data capabilities and overall control environment. The individual will be regarded as a trusted business partner leveraging curiosity and expertise to drive data lifecycle management maturity.
Candidate will be responsible for driving Visa’s data lifecycle capability maturity within the Product and Payment Services Business Units through:
- Developing partnerships with Business Partners within Visa’s Product and Payment Services Business Units to identify, assess, treat and monitor the data lifecycle management control environment.
- Driving the implementation/operationalization of data governance policies, standards, guidelines and processes
- Working with data owners/stewards to ensure data is connected, clean, and complete across the functional domain to enable business decisions, risk management, and business value
- Driving the build out of an accurate and comprehensive Functional Data Asset Inventory
- Working with functional data owners and stewards to analyze, develop, construct, deploy and maintain an enterprise data catalog that addresses data lineage in support of privacy, security, regulatory, legal objectives in alignment with data policy and standards
- Engaging Data Owners to document business metadata that describe and provides necessary context, understanding of functional business terms and usage
- Working with Technology to document to an appropriate level of granularity (conceptual, logical, or physical), for the functional data (including technical metadata) within systems
- Profiling data processing in critical business processes, documenting the data quality control to assess the data quality and ensure its fit for business purpose
- Documenting and assessing the data flow through the business process to identify control weaknesses or gaps and recommend mitigation
- Partnering with Business and Technology stewards to identify and document each interface by which functional data is provided to or consumed from
- Partner with Technology, Product and Data Capability team to design, implement, and oversee processes to maintain fit for purpose data catalog
- Partner with Data Capability team to inform solutions for managing the lifecycle and lineage of data assets
- Defining key risk indicators to assist management in the early identification of risk trends
- Communicating and educating Visa staff to fully operationalize and embed policies and governance framework
- Interfacing & responding to regulator requests & reporting to relevant governance forums
- Working seamlessly with a wide group of internal customers in a way that engenders mutual respect and consideration for the other party’s point of view
This is a hybrid position. Hybrid employees can alternate time between both remote and office. Employees in hybrid roles are expected to work from the office 2-3 set days a week (determined by leadership/site), with a general guidepost of being in the office 50% or more of the time based on business needs.
Qualifications
• 8 or more years of relevant work experience with a Bachelor Degree or at least 5 years of experience with an Advanced Degree (e.g. Masters, MBA, JD, MD) or 2 years of work experience with a PhD
• Track record in synthesizing complex information to produce impactful management information and support informed decision making (risk vs reward, cost vs benefit tradeoffs)
• Business acumen and understanding of the evolving regulatory environment
• Strong leadership and interpersonal skills with ability to develop and sustain relationships across levels and role type, influences and collaborates with all levels, functions and geographies
• Superior communication and problem-solving skills with a passion to get things done, learn and inspire peers and business partners to uplift skills and capabilities
• Knowledge and understanding of risk management practice (e.g., experience in identifying, assessing, treating, and monitoring risks) with ability to turn academic concepts into business practical concepts
• Self-starter, works independently and thrives on driving execution and delivering results
• Experience working to uplift and mature data lifecycle management capabilities, policies definition, controls and frameworks
Preferred Qualifications / Additional Requirements:
• 7+ Years of progressive experience
• Bachelor’s Degree (Finance, Economics or Business Field preferred)
• Knowledge of Industry frameworks and Best Practices (e.g., DCAM (Data Capability Assessment Model), CDMC)
• Experience with data warehousing, business intelligence (BI), data governance, data architecture, data integration, data classification, data strategy, data quality management, data security and privacy, metadata management, data standards, regulatory compliance, and enterprise architecture frameworks
• An understanding of the payments industry and financial services, payment products and services, and of wider economic and competitive landscape
• Sector Experience: Payment processing and payment services, Financial services (within a regulated environment), Regulated industry, Technology, financial technology
Additional Information
Work Hours: Varies upon the needs of the department.
Travel Requirements: This position requires travel 5-10% of the time.
Mental/Physical Requirements: This position will be performed in an office setting. The position will require the incumbent to sit and stand at a desk, communicate in person and by telephone, frequently operate standard office equipment, such as telephones and computers.

U.S. APPLICANTS ONLY: The estimated salary range for a new hire into this position is 153,900.00 to 200,000.00 USD, which may include potential sales incentive payments (if applicable). Salary may vary depending on job-related factors which may include knowledge, skills, experience, and location. In addition, this position may be eligible for bonus and equity.
