Role Description:
Visa is seeking a Senior Director, Data Policy Outreach and Support Partner to play a key role in Visa’s Global Data Office by serving as a key interface between businesses, their data users, Visa’s broad global employee base, and the global Data Policy and Governance teams. The individual’s key responsibilities are to both (1) strengthen and mature end-users’ understanding of Visa’s Data Values and Data Policies and (2) bring regional and functional perspectives and use-cases into the Data Policy process. Both responsibilities are critical to ensuring that Visa’s strategic data objectives are achieved enterprise-wide. The Data Policy Team is tasked with regularly reviewing, challenging, and strengthening Visa’s policies, rules, and approaches to how we work with data. This work is critical to data innovation and unlocking new sources of value and revenue growth. At the same time, the Data Policy Team is the focused point of accountability for developing a promoting the required culture of responsible data use. The Senior Director, Data Policy Outreach will partner closely with the Data Policy Lead (a peer-level role) to provide an active communication line to and from business functions that informs, supports, and uplifts the overall Data Policy agenda.
Strengthening our data culture is fundamental to our future strategic vitality. Educating business leaders, data end-users and Visa’s global employee base is a key objective of the role, accomplished through an execution plan that will require investments in strategic data literacy, awareness campaigns, comprehensive training programs, learning tracks, incentive programs, and competency testing. The goal is to strengthen our data literacy and maturity across the organization. Strong data literacy and maturity will support our pursuit of responsible data use as well as more strategic data innovation.
Effective programs will reflect and incorporate the unique aspects of Visa’s corporate culture. Critical measures are improved awareness of Visa Data Values, Data Policies, and Data Use Principles across business units and regions, more creative approaches to responsibly using data, fewer instances of unacceptable data use risk, stronger engagement with external stakeholders on appropriate data use, and ultimately greater data-related revenue growth.
In parallel, this role will provide critical end-user context and input to the Data Policy Team regarding regional business objectives and intentionally challenge, shape, and inform policy positions to ensure that the voice of the business is well-represented in Data Policy discussions. Working with the Data Policy Lead and other team members, this role will provide key input on the benefits and risks associated with data applications associated with new product and payment services innovation. Providing feedback on business data use objectives, emerging opportunities, competitive pressures, and other external market dynamics is a critical responsibility. Championing data innovation in the context of regulations and responsible data use will be a critical role.
The ideal candidate is an experienced professional with a fundamental understanding of the value of data and its economic, political, and sociological importance. Essential for the role, the candidate must have successful project management experience that intersects with a variety of functions, geographies, and cultures. Prior experience in successfully launching similar enterprise-wide programs (e.g., compliance, risk management) would be a competitive advantage. Strong relationship-building and leadership skills are essential.
Primary responsibilities:
- Develop and implement a targeted and effective change management initiative (including awareness campaigns, training programs, learning tracks, competency testing, and incentive programs).
- Be a strong internal spokesperson and advocate for Visa’s responsible data use culture, our supporting Data Values and Policies, and all of the supporting programs. Manage and track our progress against our cultural and data literacy and awareness goals.
- Contribute to the embedding of a strong data and risk-minded culture to drive the achievement of business objectives in a strong control environment.
- Drive effective organizational change and culture change. Doing so through contributing to development and implementation of refreshed processes, controls, and training programs.
- Serve as a liaison between functional and regional data-use leaders (primarily within Product, Visa Consulting & Analytics, Marketing, and Government Engagement) to drive awareness of their business data use strategy and objectives into the Data Policy & Governance teams. Collaborate with other Chief Data Office functions to ensure program efficacy.
- Help shape forward-thinking Data Policy.
- Partner with Data Policy Lead to maintain appropriate data policy playbooks, data use catalogues, and other end-user materials that provide effective guidance on the implementation of Data Policy.
- As a solutions-driven champion, the role requires addressing pain-points that practically inhibit execution to alleviate unwanted friction.
- Continually monitor the external environment for events that can have an impact on Visa’s Data Policy and Governance Framework, raising awareness of possible impact to Visa and our partners.
- Assess data use-cases to provide constructive challenge to build proactive controls or other actions required to mitigate risk.
- Manage the ongoing professional development and growth of direct reports
This is a hybrid position. Hybrid employees can alternate time between both remote and office. Employees in hybrid roles are expected to work from the office 2-3 set days a week (determined by leadership/site), with a general guidepost of being in the office 50% or more of the time based on business needs.
Qualifications
Basic Qualifications:
12 or more years of work experience with a Bachelor’s Degree or at least 10 years of work experience with an Advanced degree (e.g. Masters/MBA /JD/MD), or a minimum of 5 years of work experience with a PhD
Preferred Qualifications:
15 or more years of experience with a Bachelor’s Degree or 12 years of experience with an Advanced Degree (e.g. Masters, MBA, JD, or MD), PhD with 9+ years of experience
- Strong success track record of driving large-scale programs in complex, global, multi-dimensional business organizations
- Hands-on experience in Data Analytics, Data Policy, Stewardship, Compliance, Risk Management, or other aspects of data use
- Familiarity with compliance, risk management, and/or data regulation is a plus
- Global, multi-national business experience is strongly preferred
- Work experience in the financial services industry (bank, credit union, Fintech, or management-consulting firm), preferably focusing on payments

Additional Information
Work Hours: Varies upon the needs of the department.
Travel Requirements: This position requires travel 5-10% of the time.

U.S. APPLICANTS ONLY: The estimated salary range for a new hire into this position is 181,800.00 to 250,000.00 USD, which may include potential sales incentive payments (if applicable).
