Risk Technology Sr. Manager Software Engineer

Sr. Manager Software Engineer will lead team of software engineers to develop and support The Legal, Risk and Compliance (LRC) applications for Visa Inc. Responsibilities span across but not limited to involvement with review and understanding of business requirements, design, development, integration, testing, implementation, and maintenance of the platform. This role will have significant collaboration with business partners, multiple internal technology teams, project team members, and vendors during functional requirements, project lifecycles, and ongoing support.  We are looking for a Sr. Manager with strong understanding of the governance, risk and compliance systems space, ability to understand business processes and be forward thinking to identify opportunities and technology solutions. In this team there is a strong emphasis on being obsessed with the customer experience. Portfolio includes packaged software such as RSA Archer and IBM Openpages, Cognos.

Responsibilities

  • Provide direction and hands on leadership to a team of engineers engaged in application and architecture designs, development, QA and test automation for Risk and Compliance applications
  • Provide hands on technical and functional expertise, coaching and mentorship to improve skills across the development and operations team including creation of artifacts supporting requirements, architecture, functional/technical design, and support documentation
  • Lead collaboration activities with TPM and business partners on requirements, workflow design, configuration, and business process re-engineering
  • Ensure “Operational Excellence” capabilities (Automation, Agility, Analytics, Resiliency and Monitoring) are assessed, planned, and built into the platform
  • Identify and implement opportunities in the platform that will drive improvements in performance, scalability, usability, and code re-use while driving down technical debt and cost of ownership
  • Actively participate in vendor demo, code reviews and technical deep dive sessions to ensure quality, completeness, and timeliness of all deliverables from the team
  • Collaboratively manage dependencies with other IT organizations within Visa and with our vendors and partners  
  • Serve as development/configuration resource across multiple Agile projects, delivering meaningful functionality, ensuring that development activities comply with technical standards, policies, and guidelines
  • Design and implement solutions to enhance the end user experience utilizing vendor supplied APIs and web services
  • Accountable for accurate project estimation and adherence to budget
  • Drive continuous improvement around project related processes (i.e. conceptual approach, estimating, security, implementation, testing, training, etc.)

This is a hybrid position. Hybrid employees can alternate time between both remote and office. Employees in hybrid roles are expected to work from the office two days a week, Tuesdays and Wednesdays with a general guidepost of being in the office 50% of the time based on business needs.

Qualifications

Basic Qualifications:
• BS/MS in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Information Systems or relevant technical discipline required
• Bachelor's degree with 12+ years or M.S. degree with 10+ years of experience designing, developing, and managing complex, enterprise class, mission critical, large volume global application systems
• 6 years IBM OpenPages GRC platform and Cognos Report development, business process workflow configuration experience required
• Excellent business analysis skills to translate requirements to functional and technical design
• Consistent track record of hiring, retaining and leading top talent, including software engineers and test engineers in a fast-paced work environment
• Ability to work with teams in multiple geographical locations and time zones
• Mentoring skills to get the best results as well as professional and personal growth of the team members
• Must be highly self-motivated with strong organizational, analytical, conflict resolution, and facilitation skills
• Proven experience working with JSON, web services, APIS, CI/CD pipelines using Jenkins
• Advanced level SQL skills for data manipulation and validation (SQL Server, DB2, Oracle)
• Working experience of HTML, JavaScript, SharePoint, LDAP, ODBC
• Understanding of project management - Agile, SDLC, risk management, quality engineering, and project delivery tools such as JIRA
• Comfortable learning new technologies quickly
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills
• PowerBI and/or Tableau experience a plus


Preferred Qualifications:
• 9 or more years of relevant work experience with a Bachelor Degree or 7 or more relevant years of experience with an Advanced Degree (e.g. Masters, MBA, JD, MD) or 3 or more years of experience with a PhD

Additional Information

Work Hours: Varies upon the needs of the department.

Travel Requirements: This position requires travel 5-10% of the time.

Mental/Physical Requirements: This position will be performed in an office setting.  The position will require the incumbent to sit and stand at a desk, communicate in person and by telephone, frequently operate standard office equipment, such as telephones and computers.

U.S. APPLICANTS ONLY: The estimated salary range for a new hire into this position is 153,900.00 to 200,000.00 USD, which may include potential sales incentive payments (if applicable). Salary may vary depending on job-related factors which may include knowledge, skills, experience, and location. In addition, this position may be eligible for bonus and equity.
