Job Description

The Platform Engineering team strives to build resilient distributed systems that scale while enabling developer velocity. We build, evolve and operate tools, frameworks and infrastructure that handles application delivery from source to production. We continue to modernize other parts of the infrastructure using cloud-native technologies. We follow the gitOps philosophy to perform continuous delivery. We follow Infrastructure as Code (IaC) and containerization practices to automate all things infrastructure and application delivery. We follow Agile development methodologies. On an average day you are empowered to solve strategic projects or figuring out solutions to continue making our systems more resilient.  You’ll be working on strategic projects aiming to increase service resilience, improve observability, and enhance our delivery pipelines. You will build, extend or improve existing tools/frameworks that not only reduce toil but also enable other teams and our own team to perform other projects/tasks faster, securely and reliably.

Responsibilities:

  • Responsible for continuous delivery pipeline for build & deployment.
  • Triage and debug build issues and work with developers and QA to ensure timely resolution.
  • Handle the daily responsibilities of modernizing and supporting the release needs of Agile development teams.
  • Collaborate with Development/QA to plan and build deployment automation.
  • Build and deploy issue resolution following failed migration to environments by researching and providing output logs and error messages.
  • Assist in implementing changes to the build / release / version-control processes required to enforce and apply release engineering best practices.
  • Drive automation to reduce toil.
  • Designing and implementing an automation framework for all aspects of the application lifecycle, including build, test, and deployment.
  • Design and implement scalable and reliable systems to support software development.
  • Collaborate cross functional to design and implement technical designs and solutions.
  • Provide operational support for the platform, ensuring it is scalable, reliable, and meets the needs of the company.
  • Stay up to date with new technologies and industry trends, and continuously improve the platform to meet the changing needs of the company.

This is a hybrid position. Hybrid employees can alternate time between both remote and office. Employees in hybrid roles are expected to work from the office 2-3 set days a week (determined by leadership/site), with a general guidepost of being in the office 50% or more of the time based on business needs.

Qualifications

Basic Qualifications:
• 2 or more years of work experience with a Bachelor’s Degree or an Advanced Degree (e.g. Masters, MBA, JD, MD, or PhD)
• You enjoy building the system integrations needed to enable engineers to deliver secure and reliable services.
• Hands on experience with container and related technologies such as Docker, Kubernetes
• Live in terminal and ability to script/debug in Shell/PowerShell.
• You are fluent in at least one scripting languages (PowerShell, Bash) and willing to dive into other ones, as needed.
• Leverage DevOps, Agile methodology, ITIL disciplines (Event, Incident, Problem, and Change) and standards in day-to-day work.
• Systematic problem-solving approach, coupled with good communication skills and a strong sense of ownership.
• Ability to work across team boundaries to identify and solve pain points that affect engineer velocity and system resilience.

Preferred Qualifications:
• 3 or more years of work experience with a Bachelor’s Degree or more than 2 years of work experience with an Advanced Degree (e.g. Masters, MBA, JD, MD)

• 2 or more years' experience with source code versioning utilizing Git.
• 2 or more years' experience with configuration and deployment management utilizing tools such as Ansible.
• 2 or more years designing, implementing and support containers to include Docker and Kubernetes.
• 2 or more years' experience using infrastructure as code tools such as Terraform.
• Familiarity with network configuration and discovery tools such as Consul.
• 2 or more years' experience with continuous integration utilizing tools such as Jenkins.
• Understanding of credential security to include Vault, SSL and Certificates.
• Strong understanding of Agile, Scrum and working in tools associates such as Jira.

Additional Information

Work Hours: Varies upon the needs of the department.

Travel Requirements: This position requires travel 5-10% of the time.

Mental/Physical Requirements: This position will be performed in an office setting.  The position will require the incumbent to sit and stand at a desk, communicate in person and by telephone, frequently operate standard office equipment, such as telephones and computers.

U.S. APPLICANTS ONLY: The estimated salary range for a new hire into this position is 100,200.00 to 127,800.00 USD, which may include potential sales incentive payments (if applicable). Salary may vary depending on job-related factors which may include knowledge, skills, experience, and location. In addition, this position may be eligible for bonus and equity.
