Job Description

This role reports to the Head of Operations & Infrastructure and is responsible for delivering engineering and operational excellence across Visa’s Data Centers, and points of presence (POPs).  You will drive strategic vision for the Visa data centers ensuring current and future needs are met and data center operations are effectively managed.  You and your team are the core for delivery of global cloud Data Center infrastructure incorporating best in class, industry innovations in power distribution, environmental management, space efficiency and cooling technology to drive reliability, scalability, and efficiency.

We are looking for a passionate, seasoned, and innovative technology leader to be a part of the Technology Leadership team and work collaboratively across Visa.  This is a transformational role, with autonomy and opportunities for next generation thinking. 

Responsibilities

  • Lead a world-class team of approximately 120 engineers and technicians located across the globe
  • Provide leadership and direction in areas of policies, compliance and procedures, risk assessment and mitigation, global maintenance and testing policies and safety
  • Mentor, and lead critical operations teams responsible for the management, maintenance, and repair of our critical and non-critical infrastructure systems
  • Lead project work with peer teams to identify required engineering changes in infrastructure systems, define project scope, prioritize projects, schedule, and execute these projects
  • Maintain operational and fiscal discipline by effectively managing the scope, schedule and budget
  • Provide technical vision and a roadmap to align with the corporate strategy and the technical strategy
  • Apply thought leadership and management to building always on infrastructure that meets and exceeds architecture and uptime and availability 99.9999% and more
  • Find creative solutions to support reduction of operational costs and maximization of infrastructure utilization
  • Lead strategic reviews and recommendations for activities including global M&A, new design concepts, efficiency optimization programs, R&D
  • Develop the tools, processes, and safety culture necessary to effectively scale

Qualifications

Basic Qualification:
• 12 or more years of work experience with a bachelor’s degree or at least 10 years of experience with an Advanced degree (e.g. Masters/ MBA/JD/MD) or at least 8 years of work experience with a PhD.

Preferred Qualification:
• 15 or more years of experience with an Advanced Degree (e.g. Masters, MBA, JD, MD, PhD).
• 15+ years of experience work experience in building and running global scale data centers, at least 10+ years with global scale always-on platforms
• Proven knowledge of critical facility engineering disciplines, including mechanical, electrical, and control systems
• Technical expertise in critical power and cooling systems, life safety, and environmental compliance
• Ability to manage a large global team across multiple time zones
• Experience managing a diverse ecosystem of partners and complex supply chains
• Management of large global budgets
• Executive communication skills and ability to clearly translate complex technical information in a way that your audience will understand
• Strong leadership skills to guide a diverse, globally dispersed team of subject matter experts.
• Demonstrated ability to recruit, grow, retain, and lead high-caliber technical talent
• Exceptional collaboration and partnership skills with the ability to work in a global environment and drive consensus in cross-functional teams

Additional Considerations
• Domain knowledge and expertise in commerce and payment systems and platforms
• Experience with compliance requirements including PCI, SOX, SSAE/ISAE requirements
• Experience with regulatory standard including FFIEC/FBA, BOE

U.S. APPLICANTS ONLY: The estimated salary range for a new hire into this position is 186,500 to 256,500 USD, which may include potential sales incentive payments (if applicable).  Salary may vary depending on job-related factors which may include knowledge, skills, experience, and location. In addition, this position may be eligible for bonus and equity. Visa has a comprehensive benefits package for which this position may be eligible that includes Medical, Dental, Vision, 401 (k), FSA/HSA, Life Insurance, Paid Time Off, and Wellness Program.  

This is a hybrid position. Hybrid employees can alternate time between both remote and office. Employees in hybrid roles are expected to work from the office two days a week, Tuesdays and Wednesdays with a general guidepost of being in the office 50% of the time based on business needs.

This position requires the incumbent to travel for work up to 20% of the time.
