Job Description

Visa Direct Payout Services (VDPS) team is looking for an individual with a technical bent of mind and interest in product ownership to help us continue to grow and launch new features and services. The Technical Product Manager (TPM) is a hands-on role which includes the following responsibilities:

  • Understand the Payments industry and where Visa Direct Payout Services (VDPS) fits in the payment’s ecosystem
  • Understand the business initiatives and their importance to the growth of Visa Direct Payout Services.
  • Develop a good understanding of the Visa Direct Payout Services technology platforms and the 3 rails of money movement – cards, accounts and wallets.
  • Develop a good understanding of the underlying data models and architectural practices of Visa Direct Payout Services technology platforms.
  • Understand how clients in different geographies utilize our products and services.
  • Work with other technical product managers and business product managers to understand the requirements and receive technical specifications
  • Be hands-on with describing business requirements / rules / specifications as technical artifacts for analysts, business product managers, and any functional team that depends on this information
  • Analyze technical artifacts, study bank specifications, and write user stories for our engineering teams and test engineering teams to build features and products that enable us to extend/enhance our banking network
  • Write programming pseudo-code in various transformation tools that translate business requirements / rules / specifications into technical specifications that enable our partner banks to process payment transactions across different countries.
  • Work collaboratively with business product managers, engineers, architects, user experience and cross-functional counterparts globally.
  • Define business rules in a mapping tool, perform unit tests, resolve bugs and be responsible for the delivery of the project to production
  • Be comfortable looking at system logs when needed and identifying bugs when they might appear during course of analysis
  • Manage a team of 5-6 Technical Product Managers. Responsible for mentoring them, their project delivery, career and performance.
  • Maintain metrics for the product capabilities
  • Participate in daily scrum meetings
  • Identify and manage risks at all stages of the project.
  • Build a culture of end to end ownership within the team, become the go-to person for all functional needs of the engineering teams.

This is a hybrid position. Hybrid employees can alternate time between both remote and office. Employees in hybrid roles are expected to work from the office two days a week, Tuesdays and Wednesdays with a general guidepost of being in the office 50% of the time based on business needs.

Qualifications

• Bachelor degree in Computer Science or related field with a minimum of 15+ years of experience or a Masters in Computer Science or related field with a minimum of 13+ years of experience.
• Prior experience as a test engineer or software engineer along with business analyst or product manager or system analyst is required.
• Exhibit command over the business domain he/she has been associated with.
• Ability to learn a new domain and technical concepts quickly. Good analytical skills. Ability to connect the dots quickly.
• Led and delivered complex projects where complexity is a function of a combination of these factors – domain knowledge, distributed architecture, technical stack, influencing and collaborating with multiple technology partners and business partners
• Managed a team of 5+ team members for at least 3 years is mandatory.
• Negotiation skills with a track record of achieving results
• Excellent written, verbal and presentation skills. Ability to synthesize information into key messages appropriate for the audience
• Disciplined and tolerant of ambiguity, with the maturity and capability to interact and influence across multiple organizational levels, internal and external to the Visa Direct Payout Services team
• Experience in the financial domain (clearance, settlement systems or other back office processing involving Ledger systems) or hands on experience in payments domain is required.
• Passion to work with people and lead by example.
• Demonstrated quantitative and qualitative reasoning skills through prior projects
• Comfortable working in an agile environment and with cross-functional and regionally distributed teams
