Job Description

Our HR and Learning systems landscape is comprised of home-grown and vendor applications such as Workday, ADP, SmartRecruiters, Degreed, Absorb, and many others.  We have embarked on a major transformation journey to leverage a variety of vendor applications and custom software, to build a connected systems architecture, that is reliable, trusted, responsive, and always available. We are creating the next generation of employee experiences and journeys via self-service portals, embedding HR capabilities within commonly used applications, applying Artificial Intelligence & Machine Learning, mastering Data management and insights, and applying Automation.

We are looking for a Software Architect to drive our transformation journey.  You will have influence over a large team of technocrats and subject matter experts.  You will have access to many state-of-the-art technologies, productivity tools, and continuous learning material. The role requires hands-on work - you should be willing to install, review, analyze and evaluate existing solutions, recommend technologies for incubation and future solutions, and help implement recommendations for longevity, stability, performance, and availability.

Responsibilities:

  • Serve as a go-to resource for the leadership team on matters of technology including buy vs. build decisions.
  • Drive the Enterprise People Technology Platform as a Service (PaaS) with focus on Data management & data access, API gateway, Event Management, Digital Automation Platform.
  • Establish end-to-end long-term architecture to meet HR & Learning business needs with heavy focus on integrating 3rd party vendors to create the next generation of employee experiences and journeys.
  • Maintain oversight with the implementation team to create highly secure, highly available, highly supportable, and resilient software with heavy focus on integrating 3rd party vendors.
  • Lead POCs to demonstrate design patterns using legacy and emerging technologies to stitch together disparate systems.
  • Establish technical guidelines for vendor assessments, vendor onboarding, and vendor integrations.
  • Represent HR & Learning Technology team in the Corporate IT’s Architecture Review Team and in the Corporate Reliability Engineering (CRE) initiative.
  • Work with Product Managers to identify and harden enterprise level technical requirements for HR & learning solutions.

Qualifications

Basic Qualifications:

  • 10 years of work experience in designing, coding, and supporting large scale platforms with a bachelor’s degree or at least 8 years of work experience with an Advanced Degree (e.g., Masters)


Preferred Qualifications:

  • 12-15 years of work experience with a bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or Engineering or 10-12 years of experience with a master’s degree in Computer Science or Engineering.
  • 5+ years of recent hands-on experience in architecting, designing, delivering, and deploying highly available, highly supportable, and highly resilient enterprise solutions.
  • Exposure to People Technology domain.
  • Convincingly articulate vision and strategy for complex technical undertakings to influence technical and business stakeholders.
  • Deep experience with enterprise technologies and architecture patterns for creating frameworks, web applications, distributed enterprise services, security, data management and access, storage, API management, interconnecting multiple systems.
  • Expert knowledge and strong hands-on experience with integration design & implementation
  • Proficiency with CI/CD/DevOps tools such as Jenkins, Ansible
  • Good understanding of API Management principles, best practices and related tools
  • Prior experience architecting micro-services architecture
  • Hands-on experience with modern web UI frameworks, .NET core or Java, SQL and NoSQL databases, and other modern open-source platforms and technologies (stateless and stateful APIs, structured and unstructured data management, distributed services, messaging, service discovery, API gateways, IaaS, PaaS, Disaster Planning, load distribution, horizontal scalability, etc.).
  • Exposure and knowledge of modern enterprise technologies including but not limited to, Machine Learning, Automation, Business Process Management, Event management, data analytics, Search engines.
  • Thought leader for integrating hosted and cloud services, DevOps, Data Management, Architecture patterns, interconnecting multiple vendors, and the related security implications and control approaches.
  • Experience with management and exposure of HR and Learning data with desired security and privacy.
  • Experience with agile/SCRUM development methodologies and software development lifecycle principles.

Work Hours: Varies upon the needs of the department.

Travel Requirements: This position requires travel 5-10% of the time.

Mental/Physical Requirements: This position will be performed in an office setting.  The position will require the incumbent to sit and stand at a desk, communicate in person and by telephone, frequently operate standard office equipment, such as telephones and computers.
