Job Description

The Senior Release Engineer will be ensuring reproducibility, auditability, and traceability of deliverables and artifacts. They will work closely with multiple teams to integrate new deployment processes and strategies to build and improve CI/CD pipelines. The Senior Release Engineer will have working relationships with other teams, aiding through the development cycle for any required changes to the build/release/deploy processes. They will collaborate cross-functionally within the organization to achieve success and software delivery.

What You'll Do:

  • Triage and debug build issues and work with developers and QA to ensure timely resolution
  • Architect, develop, maintain automated build, and release infrastructure and deployment pipeline from code compilation, automated testing to deploying releases to multiple environments
  • Handle the daily responsibilities of modernizing and supporting the release needs of Agile development teams
  • Collaborate with Development/QA to plan and build deployment automation
  • Build and deploy issue resolution following failed migration to environments by researching and providing output logs and error messages
  • Provide guidance to cross-team and team members in release best practices and procedures
  • Responsible for continuous delivery pipeline for build & deployment
  • Responsible for owning specific deployment problems and provide active coordination between various groups including internal and external vendor support groups in resolving a specific problem
  • Responsible for working with Development, QA, Security, Operations, and other teams to understand changes to the existing production environment on an ongoing basis and for environment support
  • Preserve and maintain service availability, performance, integrity, capacity, and security
  • Troubleshoot and support environment availability
  • Provide appropriate feedback to leads about the progress and timeline related to specific problem
  • Maintain and suggest improvements to the simple deployment scripts and tools
  • Participate in the decision making of success or failure of applications systems to be deployed in production

Qualifications

What we need you to have:

  • Minimum of a Bachelor’s degree in technical or related discipline
  • In lieu of degree, a high school diploma/equivalent with four or more years related experience and/or training or equivalent combination of education and experience will be considered
  • 3+ years of software engineering and/or IT operations and infrastructure experience
  • Understanding of Chef and or Ansible
  • Experience in Shell Scripting and Automation
  • Experience with Containers, docker EE /Kubernetes
  • Expert knowledge of CM concepts (branching, merging, integration, versioning, etc.)
  • Experience with a scripting language (Perl, Python, bash)
  • Advanced knowledge and experience with Windows and Linux

This position can be performed in a remote work arrangement for any candidate located outside the greater Cleveland area, or any Visa office. To foster community, connection, and collaboration, it is expected that candidates within a 50 mile commute of our Mentor, Ohio location adhere to a hybrid working model. Hybrid work is also expected for any candidate within a 50 mile commute of a Visa office. This hybrid model includes in office and work from home days each week.

COLORADO APPLICANTS ONLY: The estimated salary range for a new hire into this position in Colorado is $96,800 to $125,800 USD. Salary may vary depending on job-related factors which may include knowledge, skills, experience, and location. In addition, this position is eligible for annual bonus and equity.
