Job Description

The Senior Director, Strategy and Analytics for Visa Business Solutions (VBS) is a key member of the VBS Strategy and Analytics team which is responsible for strategy and market development for Visa’s Commercial/Business-to-Business (B2B) solutions group.  VBS works across small, middle market, and large multinational companies, as well as the public sector in their payment and money movement needs, and is part of Visa’s broader New Flows team that looks to capture new sources of money movement beyond Visa’s traditional consumer business.

As Senior Director, you will work with and support key areas of the commercial business to structure, frame, problem-solve, and deliver internal and external strategy efforts in alignment with global, regional, and market priorities.  Further, this role will partner with other leaders within VBS to address client opportunities.  The position will be based in either New York or the San Francisco Bay Area, with travel to be expected.

The Senior Director, Strategy and Analytics for VBS is a key member of the VBS Strategy and Analytics team reporting to Head of Strategy and Analytics, VBS and is accountable for leading the development and communication of business strategy to drive efficient, sustainable revenue growth for the business.

The Senior Director, Strategy and Analytics for VBS has a pivotal role in shaping the future direction of our business and will engage directly with the VBS leadership team.  The work will include delivering against specific strategic projects and efforts, as well as shaping and defining the strategies that will enable VBS to achieve its business objectives.  Typically, these projects and efforts will be cross-functional or cross-regional in nature, or otherwise of significant strategic importance to the business.

This role is highly visible across VBS and will have broad reach into a variety of global, regional, and market teams.  The ideal candidate must have the ability to gain subject matter depth across multiple topics on short notice, while being able to aggregate across multiple sources of information (qualitative and quantitative) to lead teams and others to generate tangible, actionable insights. The successful candidate must be persuasive, inspiring, and clear communicator with high emotional intelligence – in addition to being analytical, self-motivated, and with the ability to collaborate well with others from diverse backgrounds.

He or she must stay in front of trends in the payments industry and be able to develop an independent point of view on topics in the face of uncertainty and imperfect information.  The position requires the ability to apply strong analytical and critical thinking skills to solve business problems, and quickly arrive at recommendations that drive corporate priorities.

Core responsibilities will include: strategy development and articulation, business analysis, commercial acumen, thought leadership, people leadership and team development, and skillful stakeholder engagement and management (up, down, and across). 

Specific responsibilities will include:

  • Work with Head of Strategy and Analytics, VBS and the VBS leadership team to lead significant strategic projects and efforts that are critical to achieving business objectives

  • Help orchestrate and enable the VBS LT to define and execute a core set of strategic business priorities across the business to deliver differentiated growth

  • Help orchestrate and enable the VBS leadership team in recurring strategic planning processes and development of long-term investment and revenue plans (e.g., MSO, AOPs, etc.) partnering with Finance and other relevant functions

  • Support the VBS business in structuring and building key reports and submissions to senior executive audiences (e.g., the Board, Executive Committee)

  • Help the wider team engage and assess external partnership and investment opportunities for VBS working with the leadership team, Corporate Development, and the Venture teams

  • Monitor the evolving competitive landscape in B2B payments

  • Support client-facing teams with strategic analysis and support to achieve business objectives

  • Enable and lead others to structure and solve business problems, collaborating and coordinating with a range of functional stakeholders, leading cross-functional teams

This position can be based in one of the following offices, San Francisco, CA, Foster City, CA or New York City, NY; this position is not available fully remote at this time. 

This is a hybrid position. Hybrid employees can alternate time between both remote and office. Employees in hybrid roles are expected to work from the office two days a week, Tuesdays and Wednesdays with a general guidepost of being in the office 50% of the time based on business needs.

Qualifications

Basic Qualifications:

  • 12 or more years of work experience with a Bachelor’s Degree or at least 10 years of work experience with an Advanced degree (e.g. Masters/MBA /JD/MD), or a minimum of 5 years of work experience with a PhD


Preferred Qualifications:

  • 15 or more years of experience with a Bachelor’s Degree or 12 years of experience with an Advanced Degree (e.g. Masters, MBA, JD, or MD), PhD with 9+ years of experience in management or strategy consulting (preferably with exposure to financial services, fintech, strategy transformation and ops)
  • Bachelor’s degree (or higher) with demonstrated high academic achievement (preferably in business, finance, economics, engineering, statistics, or related field)
  • Proven ability to structure complex problems into tangible recommendations and outcomes.
  • Proven experience in leading and managing teams to deliver on multiple, complex, cross-functional projects across internal and external organizations
  • Demonstrated capability in engaging CXO-level stakeholders clearly conveying business insights and recommendations that drive results and outcomes
  • Exceptional interpersonal and communication skills with proven ability to engage a diverse set of multinational stakeholders and achieve tangible outcomes
  • Mastery of MS tools (e.g., PowerPoint, Word, Excel, etc.) and expert project management and planning skills with experience cultivating similar skillsets in others

Travel Requirements: This position requires travel 5-10% of the time.
