Job Description

The Senior Manager of Policy Governance will be a critical new member of Visa’s growing Global Privacy Office (GPO). You will join a global privacy governance team that drives the requirements for the global Visa privacy program, liaising with stakeholders through Visa and helping the GPO take a centralized approach to governance of privacy program policies, procedures, standards, trainings, and other program documentation. In this role, you will be an important member of the Privacy Framework, Policy & Governance team, helping drive privacy requirements throughout the organization as a critical member of a new team. We expect this role to be an individual contributor.    

Essential Functions:

  • Alongside the Director, Policy Governance, represent the Global Privacy Office as a point of contact on all privacy policy and training documentation, ensuring that documentation is both compliant with privacy laws, and Visa policy

  • Work closely on aligning with the Chief Data Officer’s (CDO) policy governance team, data stewards, and other business functions to ensure business policy and privacy requirements are embedded into Visa governance processes in thoughtful and practical ways, including developing and coordinating data-related policies and standards in close coordination with the CDO

  • Responsible for managing governance projects across multiple stakeholder groups including ensuring governance documentation and training is well-coordinated and centralized

  • Supporting and expanding upon the Visa Privacy Program trainings and awareness programs

  • Supporting maintenance and implementation of revision schedule for privacy program documentation, including coordinating reviews and approvals of all documentation and trainings on identified revision cycles

  • Work closely with Privacy Legal team and other stakeholders to review new or modified laws and regulations to ensure privacy program documentation remains compliant with evolving privacy landscape

  • Work closely with other stakeholders within GPO to assist with other areas of the program as needed (e.g. privacy controls framework, privacy impact assessments, data subject rights, etc.)

  • Actively learn and lend privacy expertise as it relates to data governance and privacy in projects across the organization

  • Consistently manage stakeholder expectations, ensure delivery of the highest quality service, and solicit and act on feedback

  • Proactively identify opportunities and deliver improvements

This is a hybrid position. Hybrid employees can alternate time between both remote and office. Employees in hybrid roles are expected to work from the office two days a week, Tuesdays and Wednesdays with a general guidepost of being in the office 50% of the time based on business needs.

Qualifications

Basic Qualifications:

  • 10 or more years of work experience with a Bachelor’s Degree or at least 8 years of work experience with an Advanced Degree (e.g. Masters/ MBA/JD/MD) or at least 3 years of work experience with a PhD

Preferred Qualifications:

  • 12 or more years of work experience with a Bachelor’s Degree or 8-10 years of experience with an Advanced Degree (e.g. Masters, MBA, JD, MD) or 6+ years of work experience with a PhD
  • Relevant experience includes privacy governance and/or privacy operations management and/ or privacy legal experience in a global entity
  • Previous experience drafting and implanting policies, standards, procedures, and/or trainings
  • Excellent verbal, written, presentation, and interpersonal communications skills
  • Demonstrated ability to work with and support cross-functional project teams
  • Versatility, ability to prioritize and handle a large number of matters, and ability to work effectively on a small team with significant workload
  • Ability to successfully navigate environments with imperfect information, and to assess and predict second and third order impacts
  • Ability to understand and document project requirements and dependencies
  • Strong people skills with proven ability to build strong working relationships with internal clients at all levels of management and work on cross-functional teams on complex issues
  • Strong project management and execution
  • Strong attention to detail and focus on task completion is critical
  • IAPP certification such as CIPM or similar

COLORADO APPLICANTS ONLY: The estimated salary range for a new hire into this position in Colorado is 100,100 USD to 130,100 USD. Salary may vary depending on job-related factors which may include knowledge, skills, experience, and location. In addition, this position is eligible for annual bonus and equity.

Travel Requirements: This position requires travel 5-10% of the time.
