Job Description

The Director, Small Business Solutions Specialist, is part of the U.S. Small Business Client Enablement team.  Our team works with financial institutions and other partners that issue Visa’s Small Business Credit and Debit products, we help our clients optimize the value of their small business portfolios.

This role will be responsible for developing and closing business opportunities with existing and new clients. This includes winning new Small Business issuing deals as well as selling in solutions and services that complement our core credit and debit products.  You will bring insights to clients on product and market trends, help them identify potential product improvements, and make strategic recommendations to help drive profitable growth for both the clients and for Visa. 

Our team works closely with internal and external partners, requiring strong collaboration and influencing skills to drive results.

Position Scope -

  • Serve as lead subject matter expert for portfolio of key Small Business credit and debit issuer clients –Build deep understanding of clients’ business, share insights on small businesses’ needs and behaviors, identify where Visa products and services can help clients drive growth. 
  • Identify and close Small Business Sales opportunities within new and existing clients – including products, services and partnerships.  May include formal RFP responses or ad-hoc sales efforts through ongoing engagement with clients.
  • Work collaboratively as part of cross-functional account teams.  Work with peers in Visa Consulting & Analytics, Marketing Services, Innovation & Design, and Product to deliver customized analyses, insights and recommendations to clients.
  • Advocate for clients’ and small businesses’ needs -  work with stakeholders within the Visa ecosystem to support the build of new Small Business product & platform enhancements.
  • Support the development and rollout of strategic partnerships that help us bring value to clients and small businesses.  Work with internal and external stakeholders to identify opportunities, provide input to solutions, and develop client-facing sales material.
  • Lead various ad-hoc internal projects, e.g., development of insights, best practices, collateral, or tools for use across the team.
  • May contribute to or lead Small Business co-brand efforts. Work with issuers, co-brand merchants, and Visa co-brand team to explore product launches or expansions, help optimize existing portfolios, or respond to competitive RFPs.  

Flex Work Arrangement - Hybrid Position - This is a hybrid position. Hybrid employees can alternate time between both remote and office. Employees in hybrid roles are expected to work from the office two days a week, Tuesdays and Wednesdays with a general guidepost of being in the office 50% of the time based on business needs.

 

Travel - Up to 25% travel.

Qualifications

Basic Qualifications

  • 10 or more years of work experience with a Bachelor’s Degree or at least 8 years of work experience with an Advanced Degree (e.g. Masters/ MBA/JD/MD) or at least 3 years of work experience with a PhD


Preferred Qualifications

  • 12 or more years of work experience with a Bachelor’s Degree or 8-10 years of experience with an Advanced Degree (e.g. Masters, MBA, JD, MD) or 6+ years of work experience with a PhD
  • 10+ years' experience in card payments industry, with experience in product, sales or portfolio management and product marketing disciplines. MBA or equivalent a nice to have
  •  Preferred -in-depth understanding of the process and system requirements needed to implement a new credit or debit program with a preference for Small Business issuing
  • Commitment to excellent client service, consultative approach to problem-solving
  • Proven relationship-based sales / business development skills. Can identify sales opportunities and lead sales processes, both formal (RFPs) and informal
  • Strong analytic skills, ability to interpret data and translate findings into strategic insights and actionable recommendations
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills. Able to synthesize and organize information and present it in a way that resonates with the audience
  • Experience presenting to and building relationships with senior management level audiences, both internally and externally
  • Ability to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams to influence and achieve consensus on goals and objectives
  • Strong interpersonal skills

  • Strong business acumen
  • Demonstrated ability to work independently to drive results
