Job Description

Visa’s Enterprise Data Governance Organization is hiring a Sr Director – Data Enablement Liaison.  Candidate should be an energetic and enthusiastic data governance professional eager to role up their sleeves and help stand up a new Enterprise Data Governance function. 

 

Our Data Governance organization is focused on Data Enablement – Enabling access to and democratization of data while ensuring appropriate safeguards, controls, and monitoring are in are in place to protect and ensure trust in our data.

 

Key Responsibilities

  • Assist the VP, Head of Data Enablement with the design and build of the new Enterprise Data Governance function and the Data Governance Office (DGO)
  • Assist Head of Data Enablement and Head of Data Policy to develop Data Governance strategy
  • Drive the implementation of the data enablement strategy within the business in coordination with other Data Governance capability areas (Data Quality, Data Catalog, Info Stewards, etc.)
  • Assist the VP, Head of Data Governance in coordination and delivery of Program Organizational Change Management and communications
  • Act as liaison with regional business functions and evangelize the benefits of data enablement
  • Act as strategic and senior subject matter expert for Data Governance/Enablement
  • Participate in the Data Governance Steering Committee
  • Define and maintain a Data Governance program maturity matrix - periodically assess and report maturity to management and committees
  • Track trends in data issues and work with relevant Data Governance program leaders, business and technology to remediate
  • Work with Data Governance team to coordinate and execute data governance initiatives and resource allocation, and communicates progress and risks to the organization
  • Escalate challenges and opportunities to the Steering Committee and/or executive sponsors

 

Skills Description

  • 12+ years of experience in leading governance programs and such initiatives within a global organization
  • Demonstrated leadership skills, including the ability to develop and articulate a strategic plan and successfully implement it to deliver desired results
  • Deep acumen for data/information management
  • Ability to develop strong relationships with Business and Technology stakeholders
  • Strong conflict resolution skills and ability to maintain alignment and support on data standardization across multiple business domains
  • Expertise in all areas of data management
  • Skilled in effectively challenging status-quo with various levels of management to drive positive results
  • Creative solution finder

 

This is a hybrid position. Hybrid employees can alternate time between both remote and office. Employees in hybrid roles are expected to work from the office two days a week, Tuesdays and Wednesdays with a general guidepost of being in the office 50% of the time based on business needs.

Qualifications

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS

12 or more years of work experience with a Bachelor’s Degree or at least 10 years of work experience with an Advanced degree (e.g. Masters/MBA /JD/MD), or a minimum of 5 years of work experience with a PhD

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
15 or more years of experience with a Bachelor’s Degree or 12 years of experience with an Advanced Degree (e.g. Masters, MBA, JD, or MD), PhD with 9+ years of experience

COLORADO APPLICANTS ONLY: The estimated salary range for a new hire into this position in Colorado is $146,500 to $190,400 USD. Salary may vary depending on job-related factors which may include knowledge, skills, experience, and location. In addition, this position is eligible for annual bonus and equity. Visa has a comprehensive benefits package for which this position is eligible that includes Medical, Dental, Vision, 401 (k), FSA/HSA, Life Insurance, Paid Time Off, and Wellness Program.

Work Hours: Varies upon the needs of the department.

Travel Requirements: This position requires travel 5-10% of the time.
