The Opportunity:
This role will be a member of a newly merged Operations Engineering NZ team consisting of database administrators and site reliability engineers based in New Zealand. The team will work closely with the equivalent northern hemisphere-based team
You will have a balance of improvements, systems operations, and unplanned work with occasional contribution to strategic initiatives.
You will collaborate with all members of the Platform Engineering Group and other departments to make visible and improve the reliability, availability, performance, monitoring and operations of Fraedom products and services.

This role is also accountable for the reliability of Fraedom’s globally hosted environments and services to ensure:

• Fraedom applications and infrastructure performance is well within service level objectives
• Effective monitoring and reporting on production and preproduction systems is maintained
• Infrastructure changes, application releases, system patches and overall performance are all managed to the highest standards
• Prevent repetitive failures by collaborating with relevant teams and learning from incidents
• Fraedom production infrastructure benefits from a process of continuous improvement

Key to this position will be developing advanced knowledge of Fraedom technologies and the Fraedom platform that will allow you to excel in the technical support arena. You will need to be committed to continuous improvement.
As we are moving towards much wider adoption of AWS for production workloads, there is also a requirement for at least 2 years of experience of AWS in a SRE capacity. Understanding of native AWS database technologies would be an advantage.

• Exposure to Site Reliability Engineering (SRE)
• Experience with Cloud/SaaS technical web environments
• Experience supporting geographically disperse systems across multiple time zones.
• Troubleshooting experience, especially on production systems
• Critical thinking skills and understanding of complex systems
• Familiarity and understanding of infrastructure
• Exposure to working with Cloud (AWS) and Managed Infrastructure providers
• Monitoring systems (New Relic, Splunk, Logic Monitor and SQL Monitor)
• Experience working with teams across multiple time zones
