Job Description

The Lead Network Engineer will design, implement and maintain the on premise and data center network infrastructure. The Lead Network Engineer will support the Operations group in building solutions in the production infrastructure and analyzing data to contribute to Cardinal Commerce goals and initiatives. This role will provide support for Cardinal Commerce internal and customer-facing systems.

What You'll Do:
• Design, implement and support WAN, LAN and wireless networks in the data center and corporate network environment
• Provide technical support to resolve network issues
• Review and signoff on proposed network designs
• Assess network performance to ensure that the present and future needs of the business are met.
• Plan and execute network migrations, network OS upgrades, network hardware upgrades, network patches and router, switch, firewall, VPN and WAF implementations.
• Provide technical training to junior team members on a continuing basis.
• Monitor network activity including: network health, data transfer rates, network connectivity, bandwidth consumption, and security events.
• Automate network deployments and data collection tasks
• Develop testing platforms to detect network configuration inconsistencies before changes are implemented into Production
• Create and maintain documentation on automation standards, SOPS, processes, diagrams, and other technical documents.
• Participate in the on-call rotation to ensure the core network functions are available
Additional Responsibilities:
• Assist with capacity planning.
• Analyze the network to identify system improvement.
• Escalate issues internally as needed.
• Assist with audits of environment to ensure compliance with established standards, policies, and configuration guidelines.
• Identify and resolve network problems.
• Evaluate and manage vendor relationships
• Participate in CAB meetings

Qualifications

What we need you to have:
• Minimum of a Bachelor’s Degree in a Technology discipline
o In lieu of a degree, a high school diploma or equivalent with four or more years of related experience and/or training, or an equivalent combination of education and experience will be considered.
• 8+ years of experience in the implementation, testing, and troubleshooting of technologies for networking applications.
• 8+ years of field experience in deploying wide area networks and local area networks.
• Proven experience working on complex, enterprise projects
• Hands-on expertise with Cisco equipment
• In-depth experience with switches, load-balancers, firewalls, VPN and routers, routing protocols (BGP, OSPF, etc.)

• Basic knowledge of web-based service-oriented application development.
• Basic knowledge of SANs.

Work Hours: Varies upon the needs of the department.

Travel Requirements: This position requires travel 5-10% of the time.

Mental/Physical Requirements: This position will be performed in an office setting.  The position will require the incumbent to sit and stand at a desk, communicate in person and by telephone, frequently operate standard office equipment, such as telephones and computers.
