Job Description

Visa's EMV Solutions team operates as part of the company's Chip & EMV Solutions Product Development group, under the leadership of the Senior VP of Visa Value Added Services (VAS).

Every payment instrument (POS Terminals, Chip Cards, Mobile and Wearables) must undergo strict and rigorous compliance testing to ensure smooth payment experience without any security vulnerabilities or breakdowns. Chip Test Development team, a part of EMV Solutions team, develop and maintain testing framework for Visa’s contact and contactless chip products, mobile products, and other emerging chip products. The Chip Test Development team is primarily responsible of ensuring chip product’s compliance and interoperability to Visa specifications and requirements, playing a vital role to the Visa payment eco-system.

The team also gets to access to the latest payment technologies such as biometrics and defines test methodology, before it is known to the market. It is particularly gratifying to know that every Visa chip cards, latest mobile phones, wearables on the market have undergone thousands of stringent tests, all defined by the team.

The Staff Software Engineer operates as an individual contributor, a core member of the Chip Test Development team. Working within the team, this individual shall be responsible for developing model-based test requirements for Visa’s specifications. This individual must be able to operate independently under tight timelines, changing deliverables and additional projects as they occur.

Responsibilities

  • Design/develop/maintains for test methodologies for contact, contactless chip, and mobile products to ensure compliance with Visa specifications.
  • Design/develop/maintain various test tools and/or applications to support the testing framework
  • Build and maintain trusted partnerships with internal and external contacts by acting as the chip product testing expert.
  • Provide support locally or remotely with internal counterparts or stakeholders within the Approval Services or EMV Solutions teams and external partners within the Digital Mobile Payment teams, regions and test facilities on the testing and approval process for chip products
  • Clearly communicate all interoperability risks and/or issues to management providing solutions and options.
  • Establish close working relationships, communicate effectively and proactively. Actively participate in cross-disciplinary working groups and collaborate closely with colleagues from the wider Visa Technology group
  • Identify opportunities for further enhancements and refinements to the development and testing processes. Be able to articulate recommendations and alternative options for enhancing the development and testing processes to management and other stakeholders (internal and external), offering new ideas, considering risks, and delivering solutions

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science / Information Technology / Engineering (or equivalent work experience) will be required
  • Proficiency in at least one programming language or technology including, but not limited, to Python, Java, .NET, C++, Vue.js or NodeJS.
  • Minimum 6 years of professional working experience in software development or QA in IC (integrated circuit) chip card and/or terminal
  • An understanding of chip payment products (needs/solutions) will be highly preferred
  • Strong results-oriented team member; Analytic and fact-based consultative discipline.
  • Self-starter and desire/motivation to learn quickly and pick up new skills
  • Possess excellent verbal/written communication skills and be able to effectively communicate with all levels.
  • Knowledge/Experience in iOS and/or Android App programming is a plus
  • Preference will be given to candidates who have working experience in payment industry with knowledge of:
    • Chip Cards and POS Terminals (Contact and Contactless)
    • Visa Integrated Circuit Card Specification (VIS) and Visa Contactless Payment Specification (VCPS)
    • EMVCo and/or GlobalPlatform specifications
    • ISO 7816 and ISO 14443 standards for card, device, mobile device, or other form factors
