Job Description

Operations + Infrastructure: Operations & Infrastructure builds, operates and maintains best-in-class IT infrastructure services that are secure, scalable, and continuously available.

The global network and security engineering group is responsible for the strategy, architecture, design, support, availability, and reliability of Visa Inc.'s credit and debit commercial networks (i.e. VisaNet), the enterprise corporate network, the global wide area network, the extranet/Internet networks, and the voice network. Network Engineering also shares responsibility with information security for network access and security compliance of all networks.

This is a Network Automation Engineer position with the Test & Certification Engineering team. The Network Engineer will be responsible for developing automation on various network platforms and test tools to drive testing efficiency, consistency and depth. Job would involve reviewing comprehensive test plans based on network designs and test requirements and to automate the testing processes and produce associated documentation. The candidate should have the ability to execute the testing manually to develop a deeper understanding of the technology and processes. Job would involve interacting with different network devices and test tools to develop the required automation. This role serves as a technical specialist who works independently and as a member of a team, only requiring guidance in complex situations.

Additional Information:

  • Collaboratively design, develop, and execute software based automation and tooling solutions to drive testing depth and efficiency.
  • Build topologies with production configurations in virtual platforms like CML and EVE-NG in an automated manner.
  • Automate network and device monitoring to proactively alarm to detect issues during testing
  • Utilize scripting including Python and NETCONF to automate network device provisioning process, execute network changes and obtain data collection for reporting or analysis.
  • Maintain and support Ansible automation framework and scripts
  • Review and QA automation scripts developed by other team members
  • Develop automation process for on-boarding new devices with standard templates
  • Automate network deployment and data collection tasks to enhance the productivity and validity of the results
  • Model network configuration and operational data in a platform neutral structure
  • Develop testing platforms to detect network configuration inconsistencies before changes are made
  • Document automation standards with written procedures, processes, diagrams and other technical documents
  • Work with Engineering and Operations teams to evaluate and recommend tools, technologies and processes to ensure the highest quality operational tooling and platforms.
  • Collaborate with stakeholders, functional owners, and subject matter experts to interpret business and operations needs and articulate how to address those in partnership with engineering and programs teams.
  • Monitor industry trends to continue to evolve automation framework
  • Work independently and support the platforms and network designs through their lifecycle.

Qualifications

Basic Qualifications

  • 2 years of work experience with a Bachelor’s Degree or an Advanced Degree (e.g. Masters or MBA)
  • Masters degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, CIS/MIS, Data Science, Cybersecurity, Business or a related field, graduating January 2021 - August 2022
  • Minimum GPA of 3.0 out of 4.0 (or equivalent scale)

Preferred Qualifications

  • Demonstrated technical understanding of network and data center designs, tools, and processes within the ecosystem of network technologies.

  • Hands on experience with Cisco, Arista routing and switching platforms and F5 Big-IP load balancers

  • Understanding of TCP/IP and routing protocols like MPLS, BGP4, OSPF, and RIP

  • Hands on experience with EVE-NG and Cisco Modeling Lab (CML) tool

  • Hands-on experience in software development methodologies; experience with Python, Ansible, GIT, Jenkins, REST API, gRPC

  • Experience with NETCONF, YANG, JSON, XML, YAML

  • Impressive track record of delivering complex initiatives and possessing attention to detail

  • Prior experience with datacenter monitoring and management

  • Networking Technologies such as SNMP, Netflow, Flow analysis

  • Advanced network technical certifications (e.g., CCNP, CCIE etc.) preferred

  • Hands on experience with Ixia Test Tools and driving them through API’s is preferred

  • Understanding of Software Defined Networking (SDN), Network Function Virtualization (NFV) and its application in Data Center and WAN design.

  • Excellent analytical skills, with experience rationalizing large, disparate datasets into concrete observations/recommendations, and formalizing into new network solutions

  • Must be both a self-starter and team player with the ability to work independently with limited supervision.

  • Must be extremely flexible and able to manage multiple tasks and priorities on very tight deadlines

  • Excellent communicator and team-builder, capable of establishing trust and securing partnership with all levels of the organization, from engineers to senior executives.
