Job Description
Position summary
The Director, Sales Excellence will design, develop, and execute world class tools, approaches and best practices that enable global sales teams to overachieve their quota. Reporting to the Sr. Director, Sales Excellence, the Director will be accountable for creating, championing, and overseeing the execution on a streamlined Sales Play operating model that is scalable globally and delivers against aggressive sales acceleration financial goals at the company level. This person will directly project manage to drive sales performance and productivity (pipeline and bookings) as the creator, owner, and executer of a consistent operating framework.
The Sales Excellence function is an integral part of the Sales Excellence & Enablement team and is part of the wider Commercial Operations function.
This person will be passionate about developing and executing Sales methodology (specifically global enterprise scale program management) and driving sales excellence at every stage of the sales cycle/executive buying process. Experience partnering with and inspiring sales teams at the Regional leader, functional leader and VP level is a necessity and payments knowledge is a strong preference. Expertise in communication and Go to Market planning are critical as this person plays a critical role in Sales Play development and tracking (as well as owning the operating framework and process). With a strong bias for action, our target candidate should be a highly effective program leader, excellent communicator, and have well established relationships with sales, marketing, and product.

Responsibilities include:
- Project Manage, champion, and oversee execution on a streamlined Sales Play operating model framework that is scalable globally and delivers against sales acceleration scoreboard financial goals
- Serve as the global lead ensuring the operating model is rolled out and leveraged for all global, regional, vertical and segment sales plays & boosts
- Drive sales acceleration strategy based on experience as well as learnings from the operating model framework program development and roll out
- Support delivery of Client stewardship program to accelerate sales, retain clients and drive NPS
- Ensure consistent and effective use and adoption of IDDEA by sellers globally, and specifically own the infusion of IDDEA principles into the Sales acceleration operating model
- Influence functional leads and key stakeholders to align with the operating model to drive a fuller and more effective sales acceleration calendar
- Determine priorities with key stakeholders and create tools, approaches and best practice that deliver sales excellence across customer-facing teams.
- Works cross functionally with sales and contributes to a sales force training plan focused on developing and reinforcing critical sales competencies. Prioritizes training objectives for selling, sales management, and sales support roles.
- Leverage data to validate opportunities, report on progress and adjust course accordingly
- Supports targeted sales programs that enable the sales team to increase their pipeline
- Work cross-functionally with Sales, Product Marketing, Product Management, Client Services, Sales Engineering, and Visa University
- Work collaboratively with Sales Enablement to deliver as one Sales Excellence & Enablement team
- Facilitate and actively promote sharing of best practices and influence adoption across regions.
- Contribute to building a culture of collaboration and mutual accountability amongst the immediate Sales Excellence & Enablement team and across broader functions
Qualifications
•10 years of work experience with a Bachelor’s Degree or at least 8 years of work experience with an Advanced degree (e.g. Masters, MBA, JD, MD) or 6 years of work experience with a PhD degree
Qualifications:
•Expert level in program development and program management
•Creative self-starter with a bias toward action and proven track record at developing and leading global large enterprise scale programs
•Significant client-facing experience and program leadership
•Excellent listening and communication skills (both verbal and written), and the ability to influence
•Aptitude to think creatively and champion excellence in facilitation and knowledge to deliver content in a simple and effective way
•Ability to inspire and influence those without direct management responsibility up to and including SVP level
•Possess a high level of professionalism and the skills to build business relationships, trust and respect with business partners and suppliers
•Strong team player, self-motivated and the ability to work independently at coordinating across functional activities, obtain buy-in and elevate issues at critical junctures appropriately
•Ability to operate in a highly matrixed environment
•Proven decision-making/implementation success linking business strategies to business outcomes
•Leads by example, creating a sense of energy, ownership, and personal commitment to the work
