Job Description

The Central Finance Team for Europe Markets provides financial analysis and decision support to the European markets and European business divisions. We are the liaison point for finance activities and insights relating to these areas.
 

2022 will be a critical and exciting time to join the team, as Europe implements its strategy to grow the business, increase cash penetration and generate and sustain new payment flows, while withstanding the shocks of Covid. 
 

The Business Analytics role will support Finance and Leadership teams across Europe and the European business divisions. Responsibilities include critical aspects of financial planning and analysis and, crucially, the production of high-quality analysis to supplement regular results reporting on revenues and expenses and provide commercial insights that support the Europe Region Leadership Team in taking the business forward.
 

This position reports to the Head of Europe Finance Markets Analytics. The role holder key focus will be to use data and apply analytical rigour to provide insights, bringing life to MI reporting and adding value in business decisions, whether during the budget round, during the year or specific investments. There will be an element of cross-team working, including providing analysis and insights for the European clusters. Therefore, a degree of curiosity, flexibility, the ability to multi-task and be self-driven are all required.
 

The successful candidate is expected to work closely with different Finance teams within Visa including FP&A in Europe and other Finance business partners across functions and geographies.

This is a great opportunity to gain exposure to and develop finance analysis and insight skills working with a range of businesses divisions, clusters and senior stakeholders.
 

Key Duties and Responsibilities

  • Analysis & insights
  • Build a good understanding of Europe’s core expenses and driver-based revenues to add insightful commentary to standard reports to help senior management run the business
  • Leverage data and business expertise to ‘deep dive’ into key business trends and performance drivers to provide new insights and influence business strategy
  • Master data sources and visualisation to support Finance teams in European markets and functional business partners in analytical projects and strategic presentations, and to improve the efficiency and effectiveness of operational decision making
  • Coordinate and consolidate inputs from the Finance teams in European markets, the Visa Europe FP&A team and functional business partners for an overall view of Europe’s revenues and expenses
  • Finance Business partnering
  • Develop effective working relationships with key stakeholders and work closely with them to support the Continental Europe annual budget, quarterly forecasts and monthly results reporting
  • Clearly communicate compelling messages to senior executives, external business partners, and Finance counterparts in other functions and regions
  • Assist and respond to ad hoc queries in a timely and appropriate manner, and be agile in approach to contribute to successful delivery of the team’s broad range of business partnering and analytical responsibilities

Qualifications

• Excellent analytical, data and problem-solving skills with superb attention to detail
• Suitable experience in analysing data, financial information and modelling
• Expert user level in Excel, PowerPoint and Tableau and financial systems required, and coding experience (VBA) and use of data tools such as R and Python desirable (but not essential)
• Self-starter with ability to work independently with limited guidance within a complex and commercially oriented environment
• Team oriented, collaborative and resourceful, with the ability to flourish in a matrix environment
• Exceptional interpersonal skills to build effective relationships
• Strong oral and writing capabilities and the ability to ‘tell the story’ behind the numbers to senior-level executives
• Experience in the payments and good knowledge of banking industry is preferred
