Job Description

CyberSource, a Visa company, is a world leader in e-commerce payment processing, risk management and payment security capabilities.

The Senior Director, Global Sales Compensation role is a unique opportunity that calls for a skilled, hands-on, analytical business leader who will oversee a sales incentives team responsible for compensation planning/design and execution for the CyberSource and Authorize.Net business units. This is a senior management position that be responsible for leading the strategy and operational excellence for sales commission planning and payment processing. The role will involve identifying and driving process improvements, defining/documenting policies, and managing various Sales Compensation communications/enablement activities. The position will be a United States-based telecommuter reporting to Phil Goerbig, Global VP of Deal Management, Commercial Solutions, and Sales Compensation.

Responsibilities

  • Oversee the day-to-day activities of our global sales compensation team such as incentive planning & quota setting, policy adherence, dispute resolution, and ensuring accurate/timely payment processing for sales commissions
  • Serve as key sales incentive advisor and partner to global sales leaders—to integrate GTM (Go to Market), business needs, challenges, and goals—into developing creative and impactful compensation solutions that scale
  • Develop internal financial business cases and make recommendations to senior leadership to solve business problems that support various sales transformation activities  
  • Drive global consistency across all sales tools, enablement content, and communication plans to support global sales incentive program
  • Partner with Finance, HR, & Legal to develop and administer sales compensation policies and procedures that align to business requirements
  • Determine best course of action for exceptions to policy, ensuring the business follows policy and any required deviation is properly approved and documented
  • Evaluate sales compensation incentive results to determine plan effectiveness and partner with senior leadership to implement corrective actions
  • Optimize our Xactly Sales Compensation system and lead initiatives to streamline and automate all processes related to sales compensation

Qualifications

Basic Qualifications

• 12 or more years of work experience with a Bachelor’s Degree or at least 10 years of work
experience with an Advanced degree (e.g. Masters/MBA /JD/MD); or a minimum of 5 years of work
experience with a PhD

Preferred Qualifications

• 15 or more years of experience with a Bachelor’s Degree or 12 years of experience with an
Advanced Degree (e.g. Masters, MBA, JD, or MD); PhD with 9+ years of experience

Other Qualifications

• Finance/Accounting focus
• 10 or more years of relevant work experience in Sales Compensation/Sales
Strategy/Commercial Operations
• Exceptional leadership, strategic problem-solving skills, and influencing skills—to drive tactical
business outcomes within a global matrixed organization
• Collaboration-mindset, with proven ability to cultivate a high-performing team & drive operational
transformation
• Enjoys working in a fast-paced sales environment, with the ability to reach to solutions that may
require compromising, negotiation, and conflict management
• Strong financial acumen and knowledge of sales incentive concepts, sales data tracking,
processes/systems, methodologies, and related field enablement requirements
• Ability to establish strategic relationships and influence executive business partners through
analytical reasoning, creativity, and sound judgment
• High attention to detail, with the ability to demonstrate sound decision making under tight timelines
• Self-starter, team oriented, collaborative, diplomatic, and flexible, with excellent presentation skills,
including strong oral and writing capabilities
• Advanced skills required in Xactly, CRM (MSFT Dynamics or SFDC), MSFT Excel and Power Point.

Work Hours: Varies upon the needs of the department

Travel Requirements: This position requires travel 5-10% of the time.

Mental/Physical Requirements: This position will be performed in an office setting.  The position will require the incumbent to sit and stand at a desk, communicate in person and by telephone, frequently operate standard office equipment, such as telephones and computers.

Location:  The person in this role can be a full time telecommuter.
